You should probably use that HDMI cord..it does make a difference. I bought an HDMI upconverter for my XBox and it really made things pop.

I have thought about that. Only thing is that my tv only has 2 HDMI inputs. Currently, one is connected to my Dish receiver and the other is connected to my surround box/dvd player. Maybe one of these days I will put the dvd player on the composite(or is component?) connection.

You should connect the dvd player by component and the 360 by HDMI. You may like the change.

Unless it is an upconverting DVD player, there is no reason to have it on HDMI. The fact that it supports HDMI makes me think it is an upconverter though.

Good point. Well then, he has a decision to make.

What kind of DVD player is it, Lzen?

Lzen 07-06-2008 10:52 AM

It is an upconverting dvd player.

So, what difference will HDMI make?

You can get true 1080p through VGA/HDMI.
Few TVs support 1080p through component.

Your tv probably supports 1080i/720p - if you want to be playing your 360 games in 1080p - go HDMI or VGA.

I have my 360 hooked up to a 24 inch viewsonic by VGA and it looks fantastic.

My tv is 720p.

Upconverting DVD players require HDMI to do the upconvert though don't they? Seems like that is what I have read.

I'll be picking up Unreal Tournament III in about an hour. Anyone else getting this?

Kraus 07-09-2008 09:19 PM

Not me. I'm saving my money for Brothers In Arms in August. I might get *gasp* an EA game when Mercs 2 comes out.

Went to circuit city to pickup UT3 and I'll be damned if I didn't walk out of the store with BioShock.

One of the few games I've purchased TWICE :)

Great game. I have to go back and beat it one more time to get 2 pesky achievements I missed on my first playthrough.
