Though it would tickle me pink, I doubt Disney makes that selection. Hitting the younger demographics is likely a huge priority for the studio.

From my understanding, his name was being tossed around for Epi VII, so he'll likely get a stand alone or something at some point.

Speaking of losing jobs... why is it that I keep hearing tons of rumors that JJ Abrams is on the verge of dropping out of Star Wars? This has been something I've heard for a while now, and from multiple insiders. I know that he didn't want to shoot the movie in England and was overruled, but that happened a while ago. This weekend at Comic Con I continued to hear these whispers. No director for Trek 3 has been found yet - might Abrams end up coming back after all, leaving Star Wars to someone else? I'm expecting Star Wars news out of the German Star Wars Celebration at the end of the month - if there is some sort of announcement of a title or casting and Abrams isn't there, start wondering.

Good. I figure these movies will be little more than Pirates of the Caribbean in ****ing Space, and I'd rather not sacrifice future Star Trek movies for them.

Are these the SW scripts?

Bird or Vaughn?

Brad Bird was their #1 guy. Vaughn's definitely on the list.

My body is ready for either one.

Take it for what it's worth...

According to a new statement from Lucasfilm, it seems there is no truth to the reports of Abrams’ unrest, and they fully expect him to start production in early 2014:

“There is no truth to the rumor. J.J. is having a great time working on the script and is looking forward to going into production next year.”

Yeah, I saw that, too. Either it's the classic case of covering their asses before announcing his departure or the rumor scared the hell out of both sides, causing them to reconcile.

All I know is that I heard this nearly a month ago and posted it here. Both sides had better get it together because everyone is slated to move to England before the end of the year.

A director switch just before the shoot isn't exactly ideal for a property in such a critical stage as Star Wars. If they do it now, no one will care. In December? It'll look like they're clueless.

LMAO

I'll be sure to pass on any info. I've been out of the loop for a few weeks because I'm dealing my own PITA project but if I hear anything, I'll be sure to let you know.
