He sounds like a guy who knows certain things but is being very careful with the information he has. What would be complicated if this was purely a case of extortion for a video nobody has seen even a hint of video or image proof of? Schefter would have just passed this off as a rumor he is interested in.

Or just maybe, there are some bigger issues. Maybe Walmart is involved. Maybe legal authorities. Maybe the NFL. Maybe some privacy issues.

The media even when they have no facts hasn't been shy to blab about any false rumor that hits their desk. Why then are they so hush hush for months? I mean... Not even a "we don't know if this is true, but here's the rumor" deal. It sounds like they are being forced to keep quiet for some reason. That makes this much more curious than your average wild rumor.

Gun in the mouth.

I'm starting to think that screenshot is right.

Could also be bullshit.

Could also not be.

But could be.

It's a dude though. How is that worse than Rice?

If it was an old white man "defending himself" from a black kid, he'd be a badass hero.

Brock 02-25-2015 08:35 PM

That's going to be some serious shit if true.

Yes, he will be out of the NFL for good, and in jail for a long time.

Brock 02-25-2015 08:38 PM

I would have went straight to jerrah with that.

The entire media was somehow forced to keep quiet about "an incident 5x worse than Ray Rice" for 6+ months? Really?

Sticking a gun in someones mouth is far worse than beating someone.

Consequences of False Imprisonment Charges
In most states, the level of threat or violence used when containing an individual to certain boundaries can raise the charge of false imprisonment from a misdemeanor to a felony. For example, if a mere threat without anything more is used to confine an individual, this may be charged as a misdemeanor. However, if it is later discovered that the threat was accompanied by a weapon, this could raise the level of the charge to a felony. In some states false imprisonment is always prosecuted as a felony. The consequences of such a conviction, in addition to possible lengthy prison sentences, may include future difficulty finding employment, loss or inability to acquire professional licenses, and other issues.

FWIW, I still think it was a catch.

Can you explain why this has been so hush hush, when the media doesn't have an issue making big deals out of stories with zero truth to them?

For some reason, the media has been extremely quiet about it. Not even hinting about what the rumor is. Seems like there is much more involved than verifying there is a video tape. There are rumors of sex tapes all the time where people can't verify one even exists. So how come for this particular tape, the media has known about it, spent a ton of time on the story, and has revealed absolutely nothing?

That's exactly what he sounds like. There's a difference between knowing for sure what went down and being ready to report it. At least if you aspire to being a reputable journalist there's a difference.

Because they don't have the video and haven't seen the video. They don't want a lawsuit.
