Can't remember. Didn't Marty Schott play role in Rivers over Brees? Marty chose Grbac over Gannon. Marty is advising Clark Hunt.

You have it 100% backwards. Marty told the Chargers GM that they already had a good quarterback in Brees, and that there was no need to draft a quarterback.

He also didn't want Brees to leave even after the Chargers acquired Philip Rivers. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2279530

Let's make the choice so obvious he looks unbelievably stupid if he doesn't make it...

I'd like to wish him and his family well in Oakland, Denver, or San Diego, yes...

The perfect week would be firing Pioli and Crennel tomm, while promoting Carthon to interim head coach. Follow that up with a loss to the Donks, despite Hali and Houston destroying Peyton.

Where did you hear that?

I used to listen to sport stalk radio out of San Diego, and Brees, in interviews, talked about the lack of support he got from both Marty and AJ Smith.

I remember hearing it at the time, although I obviously can't really prove it after all these years.

There is this: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2279530

I always had the impression that Philip Rivers was AJ Smith's guy, and that Marty's preference for Brees was one of the early disagreements they had. At that time it made sense because Marty always preferred veteran QBs.

That was after Rivers' rookie season, the first season that Brees really started to show that he was a legitimate NFL QB.

The offseason leading up to the Rivers draft, Brees talked about the fact that Marty and AJ Smith lost confidence in him, and that he and little contact with them in the months after the season leading into that draft.

Fair enough. If I recall correctly, wasn't Brees thought of as an underachiever until they drafted Rivers, and then he had his best season?

It's easy to look at what Brees has done with the Saints and say he's a great quarterback. In San Diego, wasn't he decent, but not great?

Edit: That's pretty much what you just said.

He was absolutely horrible in his first two seasons (except against the Chiefs).

Clark is at every home game...just like his Dad was. If you think Clark is happy with what's going on your nuts.

Too late; it's been obvious since before the bye week, and he has looked unbelievably stupid since then...

Titty Meat 11-18-2012 07:14 PM

If Pioli were done people like Badguy would hear about it first and since he hasn't i'd say that's a pretty clear indication that he's not going to be fired soon.
