He's not a traitor. He did what any other smart free agent would do. Go to a team that gives him the best chance of success. The only thing he did wrong is have The Decision. That was the worst move in recent history. If he had changed teams quietly, even Cavs fans would understand. But that's in the past. He is the best player in the league right now and will be top 10 when he retires.

you have issues

Hootie 06-21-2013 04:34 PM

the funny thing is

yeah, LeBron pretty much single-handedly won the Heat a title this year

but they have to feel AWFUL about the future of THIS team

Wade is clearly not the same player anymore. He's not a star.

Bosh was miserable. Absolutely miserable this postseason. He was one of the worst players in the playoffs and he makes the most money on the Heat.

LeBron has to play 1 more year in Miami. If he's smart, he packs his bags and goes elsewhere in 2014-15.

The LeBron trolling this thread was miserable. He absolutely carried his team at a level only one other player I've ever seen in my life could possibly do.

The Spurs were the best team in the playoffs this year. They should have beaten the Heat. If they ended it in game 6, the story would have been "LeBron choked."

Which is insane.

Hootie 06-21-2013 04:36 PM

I guess what I'm trying to say is...

if the best team wins...how is a player on the other team a choker? That's what I hate about this board, especially during football.

Just because Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady or *gulp* Peyton Manning lose in the playoffs doesn't mean they choked. I hate that ****ing term so much. It is so grossly misused on this website.

No, it's not.

LeBron's finals were pedestrian before the 4th quarter of Game 6.

Comparable to his shitty Dallas finals. A smidge better.

Kudos for him to rising above. It was impressive. But let's not get this twisted.

The Spurs are a great team. LeBron had little help from his supporting cast. The Spurs dared anyone other than LeBron to beat them and he got little help.

In fact, we should compare Dirk and LeBron's finals just so you get a little perspective.

Dirk - 26 PPG - 9.7 REB - 2.0 AST

LeBron - 25.3 PPG - 10.9 REB - 7.0 AST

Good job scoring LESS than Dirk in a finals, LeBron.

Oh, and now let's compare LeBron's total postseason run to Dirk's

Dirk - 27.7 - .609 TS - 8.1 - 2.5
LeBron - 25.9 - .585 TS - 8.4 - 6.6

Nice postseason run, LeBron...but not one of the greatest of all time...in fact his PER in this year's postseason was only 43rd all time.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/..._season_p.html

Perspective, Hootie...get some. One Kawhi Leonard FT away from being an embarrassment.

*shrug*

Not saying Dirk's postseason run was anything legendary, or even better than LeBron's (it wasn't)...just puts it in perspective. Plus, a big man like Dirk isn't going to rack up assists.

LeBron was absolutely great in Game 7, Game 4 and the fourth quarter of Game 6.

The rest of the time, pretty meh for a supposed GOAT candidate.

LeBron was a missed free throw away from losing the Finals.

Partially because he disappeared for huge stretches.

Why ignore that?

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-21-2013 06:27 PM

LeBron was probably worth 5-10 ppg just for his defensive value alone. Dirk was known as _irk for years. Just using counting stats alone is problematic.

Michael Jordan actually quit on both his team and the entire league to play a different sport in the middle of his basketball prime. I was strictly talking about basketball and the fact that you Cleveland whiners got to watch one of the greatest athletes ever for 7 years, many of which were seasons where those teams contended for championships. But really, outside of two baseball championships over two decades ago that are a distant memory for many, Toronto has been just as bad as anybody in the area of professional sports. Yeah, because this is the same exact thing. 1) MJ won 3 championships for the team already. Not before the job was done; 2) He made the announcement right after the season ended. He didn't string his team along; 3) He never quit on the court in front of thousands of fans and in front of his teammates; 4) Jordan held a standard press conference. He didn't orchestrate an entire event.

You are probably the only person who makes excuses for "the Decision." Regardless of basketball abilities, it was completely stupid.

That is too funny. Yeah, I guess Chiefs' fans are whiners because we think the Vermeil era was a failure. But... but... we got to watch a dominant RB and maybe the best TE of all time!

Don't even try to compare Toronto to Cleveland. Cleveland is known for having a devout fan base despite how bad their teams are. They had one football owner take a sellout crowd team to a new market purely for $'s, then watched that coach (bellichick) become one of the best coaches in NFL history and watched that same team win a Super Bowl a few years later. In the 90's, the Browns never made a Super Bowl, but twice came within seconds of it: 1) John Elways had "the Drive" where he went 97 yards against a dominant defense; 2) "the Fumble" - Earnest Byner fumbled a game-tying 4th quarter TD on the 1 yard line. In 1997, the Indians blew a 3-1 lead and haven't been to the World Series since.

LeBron is from Akron. He knows the history. A lot of my best friends are Cleveland fans. Anyone who tells these fans to "get over it" or that they are "whiney" need to get real.

I love this comment. Because if one of the greatest and marketable football players of all time played for the Chiefs for 7 years and did the same exact thing, people would be over it by now. Cleveland fans don't get over it because they love sports and are real fans of the sport. They don't care about great players if they don't win them championships.

JFC, are Cleveland fans to stupid to kill themselves?

Or at the very least, change teams.

I love this comment. Because if one of the greatest and marketable football players of all time played for the Chiefs for 7 years and did the same exact thing, people would be over it by now. Cleveland fans don't get over it because they love sports and are real fans of the sport. They don't care about great players if they don't win them championships.

I wasn't aware that being butthurt and holding grudges were requirements for loving sports and being a real fan. LMAO

That's because someone came up with the commercial prior to Lebron playing.
But I guarantee there are kids making shots as Lebron in their driveways

don't pretend you're a real Heat fan fanboy

you're a bandwagoner for LeBron just like me

JFC, I probably dislike Lebron as much as any poster on this site, but to argue that he isn't one of the greatest basketball players of all time is ridiculous. His skills are top 5 of all-time. He is weaker than MJ mentally, but he has improved in that area every year.

The Decision was the stupidest marketing move in sports history, but he was 25 years old. Who hasn't made a dumb decision when they were 25, especially if ESPN was promising to be a part of that decision?

I think Lebron is an arrogant asshole and I hope he never wins another championship, but I can't deny his skill as a basketball player, his devotion to improving his skills, and his overall desire to be considered one of the best ever.

I've lived in several sports markets. I've sat in empty bars in St. Louis because the team went 0-2 and watched my Rams fan friends become Bears fans midway through a season. I've talked to so called diehard fans that can't even name their starting NBA lineup.

I respect the hell out of Cleveland fans because they know their sports and they still care about them, even when their teams are downright miserable. That's a real fan.

Jordan would be hated today in the era of social media. His lifestyle and attitude would get nailed.
