Clark keeps hitting these terrible shots. One of these will kill him.

Welp, not that one by the bunker

Scottie almost had a beautiful one there.

KC_Connection 06-18-2023 06:47 PM

Gets the bogey he deserved at least because he can't putt whatsoever on a major Sunday.

Gary Cooper 06-18-2023 06:56 PM

I'd feel worse for Rickie Fowler if he wasn't married to Allison Stokke.

Aside from the one shorty he's missed on eight, he's had excellent pace on his putts. Sometimes, you just burn edges.

Clark has had two all-time up and downs that have him in control of the tournament.

displacedinMN 06-18-2023 07:05 PM

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-18-2023 07:27 PM

If Rory pars 18, I'd say he's even money to make a playoff.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-18-2023 07:33 PM

Clark looks like he's getting really steep in his transition, which is probably why he's pulling his irons.

That shot Clark hit on 18 is the same kind of massive cut Mickelson hit at Winged Foot, but the fairway is so wide it didn't matter.

Its offensive to me that caddies get to read putts for players. Look at Wyndham Clarks caddie. He does everything. Lines him up, tells him the speed. Then walks away before Clark hits. The caddy even brings out a wedge with his hand as a mock putter and lines up the putt like hes the player.

Givem carts. Ban caddies. Let em wear shorts. Lets speed this shit up. I dont think a caddy wouod matter for me much at courses I play alot except around the greens. But it would be a huge advantage for putting for me. Like 20% of the time I dont even know which way a putt will break if its over a certain length. Im often sooo wrong on lines and speeds of putts in general. I just ****in guess

Not with the putter in his hands. He doesn't read the breaks as well as a lot of tour pros. Makes me wonder how hard he works on his game. Many of his puts that I have seen this year a good amount he just totally misreads the line. Not push or pulls just misreads.

His putting has always been the weakness in his game but I find it gets even worse in the big ones. That’s now two Sundays in a row as a favorite in a major he’s played nearly flawless tee to green only to be let down completely by that club.

Playing golf with a caddie is the BEST.

You can walk and relax and not be either waiting every shot in your golf cart and get great exercise. It makes me loose and hit better shots.

It is but I don’t like it is because the sole reason I am not a scratch golfer is because I'm a horrible putter for my handicap. I putt like a 13 handy and hit like a +1. So Im a 3. If I had a caddy to tell me what line and speed it would help shitheads like me immensely and I just don't think it's fair.

philfree 06-19-2023 12:31 AM

I've never played with a caddie. Some of the best golf I played was when I rented the cart with a buddy but I walked while he drove. He didn't mind so it worked out great. Together we played great.

I've played golf with a caddie twice in my lifetime. Great experience.
Of course all of their suggestions, after seeing my golf game were like "You might try to hit your shot here" Or you might want to hit your shot here

Not, hit your shot here......

Caddie Golf is great. A good caddie goes to the range with you and watches you hit the ball. I remember playing in Ireland and I pull out my driver on the 380 yard Par 4 1st hole. My Caddie says, "put the big stick back in the bag. Your full fade won't look good on this hole". He pulls out my 4 iron and tells me to give it a full swing. Sure enough, 210 middle of the fairway, 7 iron into the downhill green and 2 putts for par. He had my full attention from there :)

Agreed. I went to line up a putt once and the caddie was shaking his head..:shake:

Tells me you want to put about 6 ft further right and I was like :hmmm: Wasn't reading that break at all.

Sure enough, caddie was on the money. I didn't make the putt , but I didn't look like a compete idiot..on that shot anyway...

Making a putt on the back 9 of a major for the first time in a decade when you're in contention might aid in that goal.

Tom Watson’s open letter to Monahan

https://www.golfdigest.com/story/tom...ay-monahan/amp

https://www.golfdigest.com/story/tom...ay-monahan/amp

Quote:

An open letter to Jay Monahan, the PGA Tour's Board, and to my fellow players:

First, I wish Jay Monahan a complete and speedy recovery. I respect the leadership he has shown in the past for our Tour. It can’t be an easy job. With the recent high hurdles in dealing with LIV poaching Tour players and the legal battles presented as a result, I have a sense of the complexity of the issues which he presently faces as a leader.

Unfortunately, in the wake of recent news, I also understand the cries of hypocrisy. Because he is a smart man, I know Jay does too. In my opinion, the communication has been mishandled and the process by which the Tour agreed on a proposed partnership with PIF was executed without due process. As a group of players and stakeholders who represent the face and the brands of the Tour, what are our choices?

Clearly, the Tour’s traditional business model was threatened by LIV. The upstart tour created unprecedented obstacles and battles of both moral and financial consequence.

While I wasn't in the player meeting on Tuesday, June 6th (ironically on the anniversary of D-Day), for Jay's PIF partnership/Tour announcement, I've watched enough to know that it was certainly unlike any of the player meetings I've been involved with in my 50-plus years as a member of the Tour. The Commissioner and the PGA Tour Board, on which five Tour players sit, are going to have to do a lot of firsthand explaining to comfortably coax acceptance with our membership on this partnership with the PIF. The Tour's stakeholders: the players themselves, the broad span of global media, as well as the tournament sponsors and independent Tour partners, require an explanation of the benefits of forming this partnership.

There are many unanswered questions to date, which I hope will be addressed with the players by Tour management at this week's Travelers tour event. What does acceptance of this partnership mean to the Tour? What do we get? What do we give up? Why was this deal done in such secrecy and why wasn't even one of the players who sits on the Tour's Policy Board included? A matter this profound deserves thorough vetting by a representative group of stakeholders which include those, who in the end, define the public image and emotional connection with the PGA Tour.
Tom pulled no punches. Good on him.

That was a massive mistake for someone of his ability, especially considering how he was hitting the ball all day.

I just think it's is in his head at this point and has been for several years now at majors. The longer the streak goes of not winning one, the more difficult it will be to overcome too.

If a person is cringe enough to be a "GET IN THE HOLE!!" guy, hearing their voice while watching the DVR when they got home that night was likely going to be as good as it ever gets for them. It will probably be on their headstone along with dates of birth and death.

Here lies Jimmy Wilson
If you didn't know him, you were probably familiar with his work.
He was the voice you heard yelling GET IN THE HOLE after Adam Hadwin's drive on the 6th tee in the Zurich Classic on Thursday on April 20, 2023
RIP
