Yes it makes a lot of sense but still doesn't make things any easier for fans. The pure fact it happened is the travesty and no wonder the Chiefs tried to sweep it under the rug once things went down hill fast. Clark now has to figure out a way to get rid of Pioli and not lose all that money now. In hindsight I think Clark, just like the fans expected us to be a good team this year, so the extension made sense at the time.

Chunt pissed away a shitload of cash with his boyfriend Pioli. LMAO

Thinks Pioli took bad advice regarding Haley hire.

Thinks you have to go with Reid if he's legitimately interested.
|
Doesn't think Reid will just bring back all his Philly coaches.

But if Clark, apparently, extended Pioli after "Arrowhead Anxiety" was published, he's an extremely naive and/or stupid sonofabitch. |
Just get in done so Reid has time to get whatever coaches he wants
That 8 million per for the HC in New Orleans is really going to change things |
Outside of Andy Reid, he's kinda hem-hawing.

Clark should have shitcanned him after the Manning debacle.

True Deez!

Thinks the job is a good one because the AFCW is weak.

That was quick. Interview over.

Oh noes - he doesn't think there is a clear cut QB in the draft to lead KC to gloryland

can't be too happy with his defensive coaches |
It all makes sense.
Pioli was extended in June or July, and now Clark is on the hook for potentially $20M or more. I can understand why Clark is trying to whittle that down a bit. |

I wonder if Reid would bring in Shurmur as OC and Jauron as DC?

And before someone makes the comment that we'd know about an extension because the contract as to be approved by the league...
It's 4 years later and we STILL don't know ANYTHING about Pioli's ORIGINAL contract. It's been assumed 5 years, and assumed he's the highest paid GM. But the details have never been reported, so it shouldn't be some mystery as to how this extension was kept under wraps. |
None of the "big names" are coming here. If Clark was smart he would read the writing on the wall and relize his team is viewed as a joke. Once he deals with that he can go out and get a guy hungry to prove himself like Jay Gruden or Bruce Arians.
|
I still want Gus Bradley
|
Quote:
He's just not what Hunt is looking for right now. It's a shame, I think Bradley will be a really good coach, but Clark's looking for stability right now and he's not going to take that chance on Bradley. |

The fact that Pioli might get out of here with 20 million in his pocket from this franchise makes me ****ing SICK.
|
Something to remember as well alot of the Chiefs big wigs on the business side have came from Philadelphia. Donovan and Alberino both came from Eagles business side. That is two big inside information on how Reid acts inside the organization at Hunt's hands already.

The AFCW is impossible to steal with Manning in town. Or fall back-asswards into. But it's not impossible to win. You have to actually have a good team to do it now, which is good for the level of play in KC. |

As long as he's gone, I don't care what he gets paid. My preference would be that Clark would just man up, admit he made a mistake and fire the guy. But I can understand trying to recoup some of that cash. |

I think Colonel Klink (Pioli) walks the plank as soon as Clark's lawyers decide the water is deep enough. Pioli may be all butt hurt by now and wanting more of Clark's cash on the way out. Clark isn't going to just hand over millions without a fight.
Is Clark responsible for the age discrimination lawsuits that Pioli caused? |

I don't know if the whole "I can fix" Kolb argument is a good strategy for Reid if he wants the AZ job. How would you like it if Reid told Clark "I can fix Cassel?" I'd run for the hills. |
Clark gave Pioli an extension months after Pioli had to fire his first head coach 2 1/2 years into his tenure and the plan to build the franchise focused on Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn being led by Brian Daboll. Ha, ha, ha, yeah he deserves to lose 20 mil out of pocket.
Be careful what you wish for with a more hands-on owner. |

Pioli was three time executive of the year when Clark hired him. Everyone in the NFL thought it was a brilliant move.

He certainly doesn't have to claim to be able to "fix" a guy he thought so little of he traded. |

If he went to Arizona you'd have Reid, Harbaugh, Fischer, and Carroll coaching in that division.

2 years and Manning is going and we don't have a single QB worth a shit in the division. gotta figure that Rivers is gone by then as well ... one way or another. |

He's getting the $$$, he has a contract. He either gets it and stays or gets it and gtfo
