Geno Smith Was Texting and on Twitter While Meeting with NFL Teams Prior to the NFL Draft
Two sources indicated that when Smith went on some visits to teams, rather than interact with coaches and front-office people, he would spend much of his time on his cell phone. Instead of being engaged with team officials, he would be texting friends or reading Twitter or a number of other distracting activities. “All these other players who were in there were talking to the coaches, trying to get to know people and he was over there by himself,” one of the sources said. “That’s not what you want out of your quarterback.” http://www.thebiglead.com/index.php/...the-nfl-draft/ Wow. Props to Dorsey. Amazing what happens when you find out whtat's happening behind the scene. |
RunKC might be the top homer I've ever seen in a while. Knowmo might be 2nd.

The fact that Andy Reid, a guy who's well known for his prowess with QB's decided to take Alex Smith rather than draft any QB's in this draft should have been a clue that this was a putrid QB class indeed. Neither Manuel nor Geno are 1st rounders in any quality QB class, were Geno coming out in next year's draft, he could have very well ended up in the 3rd round or even further down the boards. Just a lot of mediocre quarterbacks that have issues with either mental aptitude, arm strength, accuracy, or a combination of all of the above. I can see Barkley becoming a decent starter, and Nassib I felt has the best overall potential of any of them. I love the Bray pickup, if he can sit and watch, develop, he could turn into a decent QB down the road. I think Manuel and Geno are both going to end up as epic busts for their respective teams. |

The problem is why these guys were passed on. Wilson was passed on because they felt he was too short to be successful as a QB in the NFL. Mel Kiper had stated that were Wilson 6'2", he would have been a Top 10 pick, tremendous intagibles and leadership ability. Kaepernick, he went in the second because it was doubtful whether or not he could take snaps behind center in a pro style offense, nobody ever doubted his leadership ability or intagibles. With Geno, he's a guy with 1st round talent who has his leadership ability and intangibles openly questioned. |

burt expects us to go "I was wrong please forgive me for Geno Smith!" I will never apologize for pounding the table for a QB, and neither should an NFL team. Well, unless the circumstances are extreme, like Brandon Weeden, Tim Tebow, or Johnny Football. Then you should absolutely apologize. |

You dumbasses who want to take a QB in the first round no matter what really should become Jets or Browns fans. You'll get your wet dream of a shiny new QB every year. What's not to like?
|
Geno Smith is the ultimate "What If" scenario. Had we taken him, he would have sat the bench a minimum of two years learning the trade of being an NFL QB from Alex and Andy, two guys that know how to do it. He would not have had the bright lights and pressure of the New York media glaring down on him, and he wouldn't have been forced into the lineup before he was ready. The guy really did have the skills in college, it would have been an issue of maturity, and with no pressure, he might have actually pulled it off. Plus, a rookie QB playing for a Rex Ryan team just isn't going to end on a positive note.
Oh well, we will never know. The Chiefs have done alright without him. |

If one were looking for a good model as an argument against building an NFL team a certain way, you could use the Browns for just about any strategy. |
Sheldon Richardson amirite?
|
If Andrew Luck continues to get put out to dry by his shitty GM and peabrain owner, and if he struggles this year like he did last year, don't be surprised if dumbasses come out of the woodwork and start calling him a "bad pick."
You think it's impossible now, but just you wait. |

This is a good post and one I agree with, he was placed as QB way to early IMO. And under the right coaching I would venture to say practically every QB right out of college should stay on the sidelines to learn for a year or two. |
And yes....was trolling!!
|
Remember this? Remember what fools you were?! You think we'd be here with Geno SNR, Sorter, and the rest of you chocolate peni suckers!
|
oooh... I like him already. :p

They formed a Group called "The ****ing Mob" over this stuff and prison raped me like Freddy Krueger mama. I was the only one telling them how Geno couldn't go through progressions and was a poor leader.

I'd rather have Genos pizza rolls than have Geno on my team... thank God this never came to fruition, everyone that was begging for this guy should be ashamed of themselves
Except for my buddy Hemi Ed, he was taken in by the wrong crowd and fed a bunch of lies |

I wonder if he ever figured out why he wasn't 1st overall.

Tiger and Bob are two completely different accounts and people.

There is a monumental amount of dumb****ery jammed into this thread.
|
Why does this thread even exist ?
|
I wanted us to take any QB because it was the way we all wanted to go after the Matt Cassel abortion.
I was very vocal about wanting Geno to sit for 2 years of we drafted him and I was good with the Alex Smith trade (thought we overpaid a lot though)...who knows how things play out if that's the way it had played out... |
His college career was built on beating up poor opponents and he was known to be a douchebag. The only thing surprising is that he didn't tumble further in the draft. The whole league knew about him. Even the jets. he was just a flyer.
