Not like we ever played like this last year.

Ceej 11-13-2012 08:06 PM

Elija-chappelle Johnson.

KC_Conniption 11-13-2012 08:06 PM

Yeah, EJ's going to need to do a lot more of that. This team doesn't have a real offensive option down the stretch otherwise.

Imon Yourside 11-13-2012 08:07 PM

Same shit different year, anyone remember the duke game last year where every prayer they threw up went in?

Ceej 11-13-2012 08:08 PM

Good play, Jeff.

Withey wasn't awake this game. He picks and chooses his spots to get motivated and didn't choose tonight.

about 6 feet behind the 3 pt line.

Yeah I don't get too worked up about games in November.

I think the difference on this was that was just a wide open shot. It wasn't a prayer.

Imon Yourside 11-13-2012 08:09 PM

YES!!!!!!!!!!

That's not a prayer. It's a good 3. Barely behind where the NBA 3 point should be. A makeable basket for any college player with a decent stroke.

KC_Conniption 11-13-2012 08:09 PM

I'm impressed by McLemore. He hasn't gotten rattled by the situation like Ellis has.

Ceej 11-13-2012 08:10 PM

Got real lucky there.

Eh, MSU is only 4/11 from 3 and shooting 50%... they've played some good defense down the stretch, KU's kind of lost on offense at the moment, and MSU hit some FTs...

Most coaches would cringe at that shot, especially these two.

Mr_Tomahawk 11-13-2012 08:10 PM

I love our freshmen.

chiefsfan987 11-13-2012 08:11 PM

KU doesn't deserve to win this the way they've played down the stretch, but I'd sure love one more stop and a Hawk bucket to call it a night.

Both McLemore and Ellis are really talented. Both have to learn to be more aggressive and assertive.

what a great game...

too many times we couldnt stop the dribble drive with the shot clock expiring...

KC_Conniption 11-13-2012 08:15 PM

Too bad, wasn't a bad shot there at the end. KU played better overall than I thought they would (with the exception of Withey not showing up) and there's a lot of positives to take from this game.

True we had a 10+ pt lead, but fell apart all the same. We really need to hit the long ball.

We should have won this, no excuses.

Reerun_KC 11-13-2012 08:16 PM

Not worried about a loss in November... We lost last year and ended up in the NT game....

Chiefs Pantalones 11-13-2012 08:16 PM

We don't have an identity yet.

We had a couple of scorers, a big and a small...Now we have all defensive stoppers as our leaders and the frosh are the scorers.

Plenty of teams in the Big10 are boring, mostly Wisconsin. But please don't put MSU in that category and I won't continue.

Pelini is like Wisconsin bball, can we agree on that?

ArrowheadHawk 11-13-2012 08:18 PM

Why the **** can't our young guys play like that. **** you sparty.

lewdog 11-13-2012 08:18 PM

Kansas will be fine. Good team once you find a consistent offensive scorer which shouldn't be hard.

Well, that was because that game was stolen from us by the refs and a fluke three. MSU was just slightly better than us in this game and won down the stretch.

even so, Coach Self knows what to do, this isnt his first Rodeo...

Gonna be a great year, we will be in the top 10 most if not all of the year AND will probably win the big 12 again.

You two get caught up so much in an opinion.

I'm not a fan of the B1G basketball brand. I think it is boring.

MSU won this game tonight and made plays to win the game.

Props.

McLemore played pretty damn well tonight. It was Withey that didn't show up to play (which kind of cost them the game).

ArrowheadHawk 11-13-2012 08:21 PM

Unfortunately frosh will be frosh though, so all we can expect is inconsistency. Self should have recruited more on Offense so we would have at least a small portion of experience Offensively. I'm not saying the sky is falling but this will be a bit frustrating for a while.

Withey didn't stop much of anything tonight. It was like he wasn't there for most of it. Don't know why he chose the SEMO game to try and not this one, but it is what it is.

Agreed.

Losing to to MSU in a close game is better than slaughtering a D2 school.

Being asked to do too much there, I think. He's never shown the ability to be a late game scorer beyond the ability to knock down an open shot or two. Late game offense will have to rely on EJ and hopefully McLemore/Ellis once they're up to it.

Imon Yourside 11-13-2012 08:28 PM

I was surprised Ellis played so poorly, Part of being a freshman I guess.

I wish we had a freshman or two that would step up from the get go. And play more loose and wide open on offense geez. Big10 offense at its finest tonight lol. I just think we need to use a guy like McLemore. He has that ability maybe he just needs to be unleashed. It felt like Marty ball out there. Unleash the talent please.
