based on what?

me too, I dunno with what. He couldn't put away Roy Nelson. Not that I don't think that JDS isn't a great fighter, I do. But I don't think he's as polished as Cain, and all you have to ask yourself is this. Would Cain have put Roy Nelson away? Yeah I think we know the answer to that.

Cain has more drive to be great than any fighter in the HW division of the UFC, his statements about needing to improve after totally manhandling the self proclaimed baddest SOB on the planet are evidence of that. I don't see a UFC heavy that I think can beat him right now.

Carwin could if he connects, but if it gets out of round 1 I don't think he can.

I read yesterday that it should be obvious now that 235-240 pounds is the ideal weight for a top heavyweight. There is no such thing as a 265 pound guy with cardio, mainly because even if they are lean it takes too much oxygen to keep fueling that kind of muscle mass. That seems to be very true as Brock was already gassing when the round was ending.

Like he put away Kongo? He also knocked the crapout of Rothwell for awhile and couldn't put him to sleep. Nelson is as good if not better then those two, especially Rothwell. This isn't Carwin where nobody escapes the first round. I think JDS is a bad matchup for Cain. He is quicker, better on his feet, and extremley difficult to take down. It will be a straight striking match IMO, and I like JDS in that type of fight. I think this fight goes the full 5 with JDS taking it on the score cards.

Brock 10-26-2010 10:10 AM

I want to see Roy Nelson-Lesnar just out of sick curiosity. Unfortunately we're going to get another Lesnar-Mir turd.

It's a real stretch to say Junior is quicker, and Cain has not had any problems taking anyone down yet, I'm sure he could get it there if he wanted it there.

I think it's safe to say that Cain has gotten better since those fights.

It will be a great fight either way regardless. I think both guys are top notch.

True, but who has he fought that is as quick and has as good of take down defense as JDS? He has just fought big maulers for the most part. Nog while not really a mauler is not a great striker either.

I'm glad that MMA is getting discussed on here more now. I stayed away from this thread because I just finished watching the card last night. And there were 3 pages of posts. Usually there is less than half a page.

Because calling himself 'Sugar' after Sugar Ray Robinson is laughable. His boxing is really not that great and all of that showboating bobbing and weaving he does is going to get him severely knocked out one day. He does more bobbing and weaving 20 ft away from opponents just to act, when in reality his boxing is sub-par at best. Splenda is a joke to use because his Boxing is really a cheap knockoff, not the real thing, not Sugar Ray at all.

Shogun 10-27-2010 02:08 PM

Not bashing him, I just think his Boxing is WAYYYYY Over-rated. He's still a very good wrestler though and his boxing does what it does, he's great at setting up takedowns with them. I don't dislike him.

Just to Clarify

I want to see him and Page fight again once Page gets that ring rust out from this Machida fight. Rasahad was too scared to stand and trade with Page after all of that BS talking he did about how he was going to beat him down. I think Page at the top of his game destroys Rashad.

Thats funny considering he caught Rampage pretty good in round one of that fight. You being such an MMA expert you should appreciate a good game plan.

Well Page is definitely more fluid on his feet, thats for sure. I really can't understand why he decided to stick around at Wolfslair Aka I cant stop a takedown from a 12 year old girl, Glad he is back at Big Bear, Wolfslair was a horrible gym for him, and the decision really confused/pissed me off. He doesn't sound overly optimistic or confident in his new video

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/OT2y3RbpLFs?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/OT2y3RbpLFs?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Below are the key things he says in the interview which really makes me feel like he, himself, has given up on fighting in many ways. He's not talking like the old Rampage, and he never once says anything about how he loves fighting but rather he's in it for the money.

"I'm like numb to everything. I'm tired of doing interviews. I'm just working man. I work for a living. The positive things is I get paid to fight. I see it strictly as an occupation, and that's how I see things.

The most depressing quote from Rampage:

"You asked me about titles and stuff. That's not where my mindset is right now."

But then again, he could just be playing mind games, because thats one thing Page has always loved to do, get into the head of his opponent, We will see if this is just one huge elaborate trolljob or not. But I love me some Page.

Jackson has a lot of miles on that body and I'm not sure how dedicated he even is anymore. I guess we will find out soon enough.

Rampage was my favorite fighter, up until he went crazy on energy drinks and hit some pregnant lady's car in a big truck with a picture of him on the side.

Now my favorite fighter is Matt Horwich, who might just be plain ole crazy.

So going toe to toe is a measure of growth?

Now my favorite fighter is Matt Horwich, who might just be plain ole crazy.

You want the hookup on Horwich? I got it. I'm pretty good friends with the weirdo. Anything you want. I love my Chiefsplanet.

I'm gonna have to say my favorite fighter of the moment is 'Bones' Jones.

I like Bones but I'm still wearing rose colored glasses and riding the Cain bandwagon, and no it's not new, somewhere in the beginning of this thread I predicted his championship.

not after that many months of big talk about how he was going to stand toe to toe with Page and make him eat his fist, etc so forth and so on, and then went into each round and scored a takedown, then pressed Page up against the fence to keep from getting hit. That's pussy. That's chicken shit. It's still fighting. I don't respect a guy that talks about how he's going to put his fist down a guys throat then shows he is too scared to stand and trade with the man. NO I don't respect Rashad and I think he's a coward for that.

Ok, can you get me a years worth of free training at Jackson's or AKA or ATT or Extreme Couture?

It was worth a shot.

If he ever fights in KC for Bellator again, I would definitely go and watch him fight. His interviews crack me up and his fight against Thales Leites was the shiiiiiiit.

I love a new guy opening his mouth in these threads. How did that work out for CoMo and MadMax? Not too good.

That interview makes me think that Page was possibly having a really bad day and just wanted to be left the F alone.........

His fight with Machida will be very telling about where his career is.

I'm very disappointed (aka bummed TF out) Tito Ortiz dropped so much since being lightweight champ. I loved his fight style and how he managed to take on the overwhelming BJJ discipline that currently dominates UFC.

He was definitely one of my favorites. Here's to a comeback Tito! :toast:

I can't get you freebies there, but if you wanted to go train for a few days at Grudge (Jacksons sister school) or AKA I could probably get you the hookup...lol

rightfully so when he sets PPV buy records....without him who knows how many people would watch. he brings a whole seperate audience to those PPV's.

It was already mentioned here, but when Dana got into the ring after the fight, the look on his face was like "where in the **** did all of my $$$ just go to?" LOL.

Then The Undertaker (which supposedly was staged) was at ringside and looked at Brock while he was walking out...."'Ya wanna do it?" Lesnar just looked at him like WTF?!, Supposedly Brock Lesnar wants a shit ton more money from White.....and Vince McMahon is ready to write a bigass check to Lesnar should he come back to Wrestlemania and wrestle with the Undertaker. Dana says it won't happen. I don't think it will either. Brock hates that business and what it does physically to him, esp with him having another baby girl etc, life on the road that much is hard.

He'll be back probably in 10months, with another Frank Mir beatdown (god i hope not) or a fight against Roy Nelson or hell I dunno, it's going to be a year at least before Lesnar gets another title shot (should he win his matches).

I will keep that in mind and definitely be on the lookout, I'll see if I can't get a shirt of him to send you and sign it or something, He's always glad to be very open with his fans and do what he can, hands down one of the nicest guys out there.

I really enjoy watching guys that are dominant like Jones, GSP and Silva. Yeah, I know he isn't in that class YET. But my favorite fighters are the guys that aren't that talented but show heart and are courage in the ring. I like guys like Coulture, Hughes, and Leben.

Can you get backstage (obviously not immediately before or after the fights) but maybe day or two before to get some pics taken with some of the fighters?

That would be some kick ass scrap book shit there and some bragging rights at class.
