I must say there's nothing better than ice cream when just starting a production run. It's just like homemade ice cream. Then they add air and it freezes to a consistency that can be packaged and loses its homemade-ness.

I always loved Maggie Moo's ice cream (1990s). Then the owners got in a bitching match and closed them down.

I worked in the store, as I mentioned earlier I started out on State I think around 75th? I don't remember, that would have been in 77, by 78 I had moved out to the store on 63rd and worked there until early 1980. I think it was the summer of 79 that I worked in the store and at the gas station. The Gas station was a full time gig and the store at night was all overtime. I was surprised they let me do it.

I worked at the Zardas in Raytown on 50 Highway about that time. I was a stock boy, but I didn't mind too much when I was called up front to help the fountain girls out.

I miss the days of Zarda and Velvet Freeze.

I have always heard great things about Velvet Freeze, wish they weren't way before my time.

I never had to help the girls scoop Ice Cream but I would sometimes take over the cash register. Me and a couple of the girls had "special" relationships. Its where I learned that you shouldn't be messing with the girls at work.
