Totally agree with this. When a defense gameplans to cover an area 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage, to 5-8 yards beyond the line of scrimmage, said team would have a hard time adjusting if a new QB came in and actually used the entire field.

Sanchez actually has double the playoff wins as Alex Smith.

Sanchez 4-2
Smith 2-4

This place is funny.

Insisting that a declining, unproductive 34-year old remain the starting QB in 2018 isn't supporting your team.

Yep. Idk if Foles would have fared better as a clear number since OTAs.. but Alex either performs this year or Pat takes over and never looks back. The lines were blurred since Alex was a Chief.. now it's black and white. Play well.. stay a chief a little longer.. don't... either retire or go to a horrible team or be a back up for a competitor.

"Alex needs to perform this year or get replaced." /some dumbass every single year Alex has been here.

The first couple of years, fine, but how many more "this is the defining year" posts does it take before Charlie Brown realizes that Lucy isn't going to let you kick that field goal.

Foles played the majority of that Colts game; If you consider that a start, KC backups are 3-1 without Alex since he's been in KC. The only loss was when KC played the Chargers with their backups at every position in week 17. We lost that game in overtime.

3-1 without Alex. Facts, not fiction.

Let me direct this at you, Tigger.

I use to be somewhat like you. Like many on here, I tried to come up with every reason I could think of as to why Alex Smith still had room to grow in this offense. I came up with every excuse in the book for his shortcomings, and tried to ignore them as long as the team was winning games. All the while, I knew that what the Chiefs were doing was never going to get us to the promise land.

You see, in the NFL, a franchise QB represents a shortcut to a Super Bowl championship. The better the QB is, the easier the path. And for the last 4 years, the Chiefs have been taking one of the longest routes of any team in the league. They have made up for it with a top notch 53-man roster, as deep as it is talented. Credit to John Dorsey and the coaching staff for patching up the weakness at the QB position for so long.

So, I made these excuses for Smith all these years. Even during 2016, though I knew he was playing in piss poor fashion, I continued to give him chance after chance to prove everyone wrong. I think I speak for many here when I say that, we made these excuses for Smith because we did not have faith that the front office would soon make the move to replace this mediocrity. It felt as though we were hitched for the long haul.

But then, in the most glorious way, John Dorsey and the entire FO/staff realized that this SB path was much too steep, and they went out and got the guy who they believe can cut this path down to its shortest possible distance. The kid who nearly this entire board has rallied around would soon become a Chief. His name-- Patrick Mahomes II.

And so now that the Chiefs brass has awoken from the same fairy tale that many including myself were living in, this chapter will soon come to an end. Except for a few dumb bastards on here including yourself [Tigger], we have all awoken to a brighter tomorrow in the Chiefs Kingdom.

One led by Patrick Mahomes, beginning as late as the start of 2018.

Common sense.

A good QB makes his receivers not vice versa. Crabtree celebrated in the media when Smith got demoted.

Coogs 05-17-2017 01:07 PM

And, FWIW, I was one of few who supported Smith when he came here. Gave him a real chance for a year or year and a half. Crawled off his bandwagon a couple of years back.

TU is like Stan.

You write Alex letters don't you?

ThaVirus 05-17-2017 01:30 PM

"Dear, Alex, I wrote you but you still ain't callin'
I left my cell, my pager and my home phone at the bottom"

Watch us win a SB with him, these clowns will find a reason to be upset. Sad.
