What in the bloody hell is going on?

On Thursday night, Eoannou said he was no longer confident in the story he was told when the mother delivered the bag to him.

"I no longer have the confidence in the manner and means in which that bag came to my office,” he said. “I looked into it, and I decided to withdraw."

Eoannou said he was confident that the evidence bag was in fact a rape kit and was in fact from the Patrick Kane case. He just lacked the confidence that the events he laid out one day earlier were truthful.

“The manner in which is was presented to me, in which I received it, I’m uncomfortable, and thus I do not believe the version of events is accurate. I called this press conference to let everyone know my concerns and that I’m withdrawing from the case,” he said.

When asked if the alleged victim’s account of the events of Aug. 2, the date on which she said Kane sexually assaulted her in his Buffalo area home, should also be called into question, Eoannou said “not at all.”

“One has nothing to do with the other," he said. "One has something to do with someone other than my client.”

I'm assuming he thinks the mother is a nut bag who rigged a tampered rape kit...:shrug:

avs are my nhl team even though im from cali... haven't followed hockey for a long time.. and i love these.. wouldn't mind it being the new home jersey.

Probably should've looked further into it before he called a press conference and started waiving a rape kit around like it was a Terrible Towel demanding an independent investigation.

What's odd is he still believes that it's the rape kit from the case, but Kane's attorney states that all evidence, including the rape kit, remains in it's original packaging and is with the Erie County PD. That seems like an easy thing to corroborate.

There was a terrible article on sbnation about how Kane should be suspended right now, basically only because the rulebook apparently says he can be suspended and because not suspending him means the NHL thinks hockey is more important and rape can be ignored.

Don't know what to think, but I'd really hope the offense can rebound so that Tanguay and Iginla aren't leading scorers this season. Between the Royals being on tomorrow night and the Avalanche playing the Wild though, I'm thinking I won't find out for a few more days.
