A buddy offered to sell me his Colt AR 15 for $800. He said he bought it at police price for $800 and rarely plays with it.

Aren't those a lot more expensive?

Yes, I believe so. I'd jump all over that. You should check to see if it already has any customizations, such as quads, upgraded stock, etc. That would really make it a sweet deal.

That's a lot of $$ though...not sure I'll be able to get it.

If I was spending that kind of bank, I would get the ACR and save some on top.
:)

He said it was appraised at $800. I'm confused by it, havent seen a Colt that cheap. It's got some small scratches, tactical stock, scope (unsure of magnify) that isn't on it. I didn't see a rail on it.

My wife doesn't want a scope on one. She likes it the way she shoots them in the military. overall, it's around 90-95%.

SCAR > ACR (In real life, not MW2) ;) Plus you can get the SCAR 17S in 7.62x51 :D

Everyone knows you buy your guns according to the guns rankings on MW2.

I am a month or some from being in the market for a good Deer hunting gun and a shotgun.
I would be interested in some opinions on some guns other than the ones that I was raised around which are a 30-30, 30-06, .243, .270. I want ammo to be realtively inexpensive and easy to get.
I am wanting a 12 guage pump shotgun.
Just not sure what brands are the best anymore.

Be careful on any Colt AR in their earlier models they would use non std pin sizes , things like that, can make mixing and matching lowers to uppers a problem.

I'm a traditionalist, stick to Remington, Winchester. they can,t be beat.
I'd go with 270 or 06 can take any game on this continent except griz, I've taken elk and moose with 270 at 700yds or more.
The shotgun, Rem 670 excellent.

Had any experience with a 25-06. I have never shot one but have heard some good things. I am curious about its knock down and distance.

Never fired one, have heard good things though. Adequate for deer or goats, antelope, makes a good varmint rifle. Bullet weight is the problem, I've met guys who have taken elk with it but it's not heavy enough for bigger game IMO.

For ammo cost problem learn to hand load saves a ton of $$$.

Picked up the XDm tonight. Ran 100 rounds through it at the gun store's range. It TOTALLY ****ING ROCKS!

Cleaned the old Mosin Nagant tonight. I kinda forgot that I ran a few rounds through it Saturday night. The old clunker shoots far better than any 68 year old rifle should.

One of the greats rounds ever developed.
Its quite capable of killing anything on the North American Continent. Despite what some will tell you.

I'd still personally get the ACR and have the ability to change calibers at will. :)
