"We hired a guy that has an unbelievable resume and has experienced success at the highest levels," Kansas basketball coach Bill Self said. "He's been a coach for a long time and obviously has a great mind. I think this is one that will definitely ripple waters in our league."
LMAO The only way this hire sends ripples through the Big 12 is with Weis doing a cannonball at the year-end pool party. |

Trying to say that hiring Charlie Weis isn't going to make an impact in Big XII football is just silly. |

Mike Sherman won three division titles as a head coach at Green Bay and he was a massive failure at Texas A&M. Bill Callahan took the Raiders to the Super Bowl and was a massive failure at Nebraska. Why will Weis's success as an NFL coordinator equal success at a much worse football program than these two similar examples? |

You think this doesn't make some waves in the Big 12? Like it or not Weis is a big name. It's up in the air whether he can run a program or not, but Self doesn't say anything about his ability to manage a program. Self said it would make waves in the league. Weis is a name that candidly I would think would scoff at a program like KU. Why would Weis come here? If he hates Muschamp, he can go to whatever NFL staff and be an OC easy. The fact that he even is employed at the University of Kansas is what is going to make waves. Call him fat. Make fun of KU because he couldn't win at ND. Point to all his losses. Point to the pathetic Defenses he tromped out there. Call him out for being a douche to the national media. Call him fat again (because you know, that's important) Talk about recruiting some more. But don't make fun of Self because he made a PC statement that only points out that a big name came to a program mired in shit. Self could have said that he's quite certain Weis will win more games, do better in the conference, and get attendance up. And after Gill he almost certainly will. But no. He said the hiring will ripple the waters in the league. Find something else to poke fun at KU for. That shit is weak. PS DID YOU GUYS KNOW WEIS IS FAT |

$$$$$$$$ Has anyone else interviewed him or even discussed him for a head coaching job? Yeah he's fat and it is funny that ku hired another obese coach, but I think non-Mizzou and KSU fans are mocking the hire more because he is a shitty head coach and failed at Notre Dame despite having some of the best recruits in the country. When I think of a hire making waves, it is typically because it is a great hire, not just a well-known commodity. Nick Saban made waves. Bobby Petrino made waves. This hire gets ku's name in the press for a day or two, but doesn't scare any Big 12 coaches. |

Unless you're now suggesting that KU has similar football clout to Alabama. But really, if the status quo is currently Turner Gill, any hire that has had success wiping his ass will make waves. |
What should be bothering everybody is this.
1) As an OC for the Chiefs, he ups and quits after 1 year, giving no inication that he was even looking elsewhere. 2) As an OC for Florida, he ups and quits after 1 year, giving no inication that he was even looking elsewhere. What makes you so sure he won't up and quit after 1 year, giving no inication that he was even looking elsewhere, again. Obviously it isn't about money. |

Did you really compare this hire to Nick Saban? Saban did a great job at Michigan State, brought LSU up from the ashes to win a national title in his fourth season, and was lured away to be an NFL head coach. Weis had success as a coordinator in the NFL. He was a massive failure as a head coach in college. |

BTW, we need to put a bet on KU/KSU basketball for Jan 4th.. Need to give you the opportunity to earn a bottle of bourbon back... |

So you're saying that since these aren't comparable KU is a program that could get top talent like Saban? Look Saban was good, then he sucked, then Bama hired him. Weis had some success, sucked bawls, then came to KU. Saban is obviously a more successful college coach, but we couldn't ever get anyone like that. Weis is a similar step down in talent about as much as KU is a step down in program clout from Alabama. So yeah, I'd say this makes a few waves in the league. |
