A friend of the woman killed today by Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher said the couple argued in the early morning hours after the woman was out late attending Friday’s Trey Songz concert at The Midland.

The friend, who asked not to be identified, said Belcher confronted his girlfriend when she returned home about 1 a.m.

The couple had dated about three years and argued frequently, the friend said, but she wasn’t aware of any prior physical abuse.

As news spread that Belcher had killed his girlfriend and then himself, several friends of the victim gathered outside the couple’s home in the 5400 block of Crysler Avenue in Kansas City.

Another friend, Jennifer Ashley, said the woman was a student at Blue River Community College in Independence and wanted to be a school teacher. She said the victim had started dating Belcher after being introduced to him by the girlfriend of another Chiefs player.

Belcher, originally from Long Island, N.Y., had been with the Chiefs for four years. He joined the team as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Maine.

You miss the point. The game shouldn't be rescheduled to honor Belcher. It should be rescheduled out of respect for the HC and GM who witnessed the tragic event and the players who have about 24 hours to process it all.

Given his apparent anger issues back in UMaine, and the story that the argument was over his girlfriend being out late at a concert, I think its more likely that he was just an angry, evil man.

Jesus Christ.

According to a friend of the GF, they were arguing about the GF being out late at a Trey Songz concert.

"Out late" results in 2 people dead, a baby without parents, and numerous people scarred for life.

****ed up.

I know the media and everyone else is desperate to piece together what happened, but the report says the confrontation took place at 1am and they argued frequently... may or may not have anything to do with what happened 7 hours later.

There are thousands of people making hourly wages tomorrow that would not be able to do so later in the week due to scheduling commitments. The Chiefs and the NFL make money whether the game is played on Sunday, Monday, or at 3 in the morning on Wednesday.

The vendors shuffling up and down the stairs, the bellhops working their asses off in the nearby hotels, the servers at many local restaurants, etc will not make money just before Christmas if the date is changed. If I am hawking Miller Lite at the stadium for an hourly wage, not getting any tips because the price is already ridiculous, and straining up and down those stairs to make a few extra pennies for Christmas for my kids, I would be upset if I couldn't do it on Monday night because I am back at my full time job then.

Why is it that businesses are painted as evil entities regardless of their decisions?

Was just kidding. I don't feel strongly either way on this matter. I know if a fellow employee at my job came up to work and shot himself, we'd still have to work the next day.

he misinterpreted the statement. it was that Pioli and Crennel attempted to talk him out of further acts of violence (i.e. suicide)

man o man, i'm speechless.

Horrible. I hope the Chiefs organization and players do some sort of fund for the girl who no longer has her mother.

He was clearly very selfish in his last hours.

Outside of that it's hard to put yourself in another man's head...

How many people have said that a criminal should just shoot himself and save society from having to deal with it? Well maybe Belcher did just that.

all conjecture though ... we will probably never really know.
