I'm a user on that site. I'm Jon Snow Reborn. But yeah a lot of people don't like Dany at all. Wonder what thread you were looking at. But those people are pretty devoid of intelligence it's mind boggling.

I've pretty much felt that way about Dany the entire time.

I can't stand her. She's going to end up the main protagonist and I just keep wanting someone to kill her off. She's just a whiny, entitled little brat that eventually becomes a lovesick, entitled whiny little brat.

EDIT: I knew I'd gone over this awhile go:

See, I think her story is tedious in book 3. I guess the idea is that she's growing into her power and maturity, and I suppose I'm supposed to give her the benefit of immaturity when I'm getting tired of watching her say "I'm the mother of dragons, you'll do what I want" over and over and over again, but it just seems like a meandering shitshow of a story. It's just her trying to prove what a badass she is, but fairly often failing miserably. The only parts of her story that I actually like are Mormont and Ser Barristan's roles in them.

Book 2 is interesting for her until she gets to Qarth for me. I'm not even all that amazed by the House of the Undying chapter. Maybe I need to read it again, but it just seemed too frenetic and disorganized. I just wanted to be done with it.

She went from an extremely promising character in book 1 to just another demanding but ultimately over-matched 'King' by the end of book 5. Look at it this way - has she been any more successful or less entitled than Joffrey as a ruler? The only distinction is that she !@#$ed her way to the top of a Khalasar before relying on a shaky birthright. And while her motives are determined to be more 'pure', she's still all about killing folks to take over a country because she feels its hers by birth.

The Daario plot is the only part of Dany's story I don't really like.

One of the huge differences between her and Joffrey is that she actually has the birthright, he doesn't. In this series, I believe that means a lot.

As far as her failures as a leader, remember: people like Joffrey, Tommen, Rhaegar, and every Targaryen throughout the history of the seven kingdoms had training from many wise people on a multitude of aspects of being a good leader.

Dany had: Viserys.

That's it. Her training for leadership consisted entirely of her lunatic sociopath brother prattling on about how they (specifically, him) are so much superior to everyone else and are always right, needing only to force their will on others.

So, is she going to mess up? Absolutely. Is she trying her hardest to do what's best for her subjects? I think so.

If you can't see the difference between her intentions and Joffrey's intentions, I think we may have been reading different books.

Beric is a beast. That is all.

Ths episode had soooo many scenes that were not int he books. Really keeping me on my toes, which I like. Plus the scene with Tywin and Lady Olenna was fun, those two may be my favorite actors on the show. "A sword swallower through and through" Ha! They've given her some of the best lines of the season.

Okay, I admit it, the Arya/Melisandre scene has me intrigued. Who are the people Arya kills. Arya and Mel will meet again??? Oh really?? Hmmmm....

I don't get how the Wall stuff is going to work. Don't they need a larger force of people to try to attack Castle Black? Are they going to raise more people up with a ladder? I'm confused on how that will play out.

Perhaps more groups climbed at other locations?

I've read all the books, I'm just curious what the show is going to do because they haven't made that clear at all on the show. In the books, the climbers lower a ladder and there are hundreds of wildlings that go up and over so they can mount an attack on Castle Black from the south and then open the gate for the rest of the wildlings.

On the show, only a handful of climbers have been shown in their group. So I don't know what they are going to do next on the show. They could not possibly attack Castle Black with that few people, so not sure what the plan is. Maybe they lower a ladder next episode and more come up, but if so, they will be people that were not with Jon's group, unlike the book where they all went together.

Loved the snippet of Joffrey having killed Ros. Does something like happen in the book? Pretty sure it's not shown, but is there talk of Joff killing or torturing a girl in the book?

Also, they've traded Edric Storm for Gendry. Fine. I like it. But I can't remember what happens to Edric in the books. Is he still around? Did he get freed? Did they burn him? I can't remember.

Oh, and I've read all the books.

He was freed by the onion knight and sent away.

Cool, thanks. That's kinda what I thought, but I couldn't remember. Do we know where he is exactly?

Also, did we ever see what happened to Gilly's baby after Jon switched him with Mance's child? Is that kid still alive? They didn't burn it yet, did they?

I think they might've mentioned where he sent him but I doubt it matters.

Haven't heard anything on Gilly's baby that I remember.

So I guess we've got one more episode prior to the weddings?

Man, I can't wait to see the n00b reaction to that shit. LMAO

Hawk 05-06-2013 03:23 PM

I think we have two more episodes before the Red Wedding. Episode 7 next week is the Bear and the Maiden Fair, so it should include Jaime rescuing Brienne from the bear. Maybe Sam the Slayer as well since they set that up this week by having Sam show Gilly the black dagger. Episode 8 is called Second Sons. I assume Tyrion and Sansa will marry in that episode. Probably Jorah will get busted for his prior spying on Dany.

Episode 9 is the Rains of Castamere. That pretty much has to be the Red Wedding given that the biggest events always happen in Episode 9 (Ned's beheading in season 1, battle of blackwater last season). Plus that is of course the song the band plays when Catelyn realizes what's about to happen and the shit all goes down.

Episode 10 is Mhysa which I assume means Dany takes Yunkai and all the slaves call her Mhysa ("Mother"). Probably the season ends with Beric giving his life force to Catelyn as well which would also be appropriate for the Mhysa title.
