This is out of character for me, but I'll offer up the "DM isn't dumb as ****" excuse:
Payroll really is capped at $70M, and DM floated the number in an attempt to get public pressure to cause Glass to raise the self-imposed cap. No deal. Thus, we're forced to trade prospects, and everyone is set on trying to pry Myers from our system. DM, wise as he is, won't do this because he realizes that an average Myers instead of a dog shit Frenchy is worth, literally, about 4 additional wins. A very good starter would be worth about the same. Thus, DM gambles on a shitty pitcher with stuff in the hopes that it will "all come together." |

This was an inexplicable dumb move. Even if you think we'll sign or trade for someone else later and cut Hoch, we still threw away a lot of good money tonight. |
Ladies and Gentlemen: the Kansas City Royals.
The very LAST team who will EVER embrace Sabermetrics. We're living in the stone age, wasting our blessed spot in the easiest-to-win division in MLB. |

Seconded. "@mikeaxisa: Can't believe Hochevar wasn't non-tendered." |

We're not a bunch of moron fans. This was such a mind-boggling move that widely respected baseball experts are taking a moment to go "Hoch wasn't cut?...... Wow." |

Aside from that I've always thought you have the second greatest username on the board even though I have no clue what it means. |

Now we need Myers to be traded for Shields, straight up, and Rany will quit the Royals before the start of the season.

I cant wait for Hoch to throw a damned 4.85 ERA, 0-win, 3-loss April and for DM to be interviewed about keeping him.
