Can you tell me where the Nuuuucleeaar Vvvvveeessles are?

If this guy's spoiler info is correct (and I am extremely skeptical that it is), it's a damn good thing that Disney/LucasFilm hired writers outside of Abrams typical sphere of dumbasses, especially Lindelof.
For all the bluster and goodwill that Abrams created with his take on Star Trek, it really wasn't a very good film. The best part was casting, IMO. |

Lots of episodes from TOS have the cast traveling in time and doing stuff not in the 23rd century. |

There's nothing wrong with Star Trek III.
Christopher Lloyd is a little hammy but that's fine. It's a beautiful movie about life, love, loss and friendship. :crybaby: |

The entire stealing the Enterprise scene is the most fapworthy thing in the entire, entire, entire Star Trek movie mythos. It's basically a heist film. It's like Ocean's 11 in space. |

If they're going to destroy the Enterprise, that's a real cheap way to get thrills, and nothing but a ripoff.

Someone should compare this side to side with the new iron man 3 poster. |
This wont make some fans happy. The Studio is openly admitting trying to get away from the space setting and the "Trekkiness" of it all.
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/new...ramount-435647 Paramount is playing up Benedict Cumberbatch's villainous character in many foreign markets where a bad-guy-vs.-good-guy storyline resonates best. And the studio is promoting the fact that much of Into Darkness takes place on Earth -- not in space. "In many places, we did extensive research to find out what we should showcase," explains president of international distribution Anthony Marcoly. "Overseas, we've tried to get away from the Trekkiness of it all." |
Well, when you think about it, even Star Trek First Contact was mostly on earth.

Trailer 3. Wow....

uhm....what ship is that at time stamp 1:16. And no not the Enterprise on the left but the large dark ship on the right. It looks like a Fed ship but is it a future Enterprise or something?
I ask because the dish array is not protruding out like the older version of the Enterprise on the left. It is sunk in like the USS Excelsior or the futuristic Sovereign Class Enterprise. I would say Sovereign Class all the way if the warp Nacelles were swept back instead of being mounted high like the older JJ Abrams Enterprise. |
That looks pretty awesome.

Spoiler!

I don't think the ship is from the future.

That new ship is either about the size of the Enterprise-D, or much bigger, depending on how big you believe the Abrams Enterprise is. It'd be hilarious if "John Harrison" was a time traveling Jean-Luc Picard. I'm not saying it's likely, or even possible, but people would lose their shit (not in a good way).
|
My first thought is that it belongs to some clandestine Star Fleet organization and the guy goes rogue. Sort of like in DS9 where the Obsidian Order had bigger and badder ships than the regular Cardassian fleet.
|
I'm going to go with same timeline, equivalent of Galaxy-class scale battleship.
|
I don't know why I thought future ship. It just looks darker and shaped differently, and had some kinda quad cannon weaponry that the crew seemed unaware and terrified of.
|
My thoughts are it's not a Starfleet ship.
The guy is a rogue starfleet officer who goes off and builds his own ship somewhere. He uses his knowledge of starfleet technology to make the biggest, baddest most ****-you battle cruiser in the galaxy. |

Nero's ship was sucked into a black hole. I don't think there's anything left of it.

The name of the big ship is the USS Vengeance.
This is part of the ship: https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...70140826_n.jpg Apparently there are more details if you download the Star Trek App. http://www.startrekmovie.com/StarTrekApp/ |
Wasn't the original proposed title for the film Star Trek: Vengeance?

So I haven't really paid any attention to this movie at all, haven't seen any trailers (don't see many since I cut the cord in February), and just today I found out that Benedict Cumberbatch plays the lead villain. That is so awesome. No wonder there was such a long break on Sherlock.
|
so you haven't seen all the previews right here in this thread? You under a rock or something?
|
Saw the 3D preview at Jurassic Park 3D. I will definitely be seeing this in 3D.

I expect from this movie what I got from the last one - dumbed down, Star Warsy Star Trek tricked out for the "ohhhhh shiny" crowd. Entertaining, but at the same time a sad reflection of the times. And like the last one, Star Trek Lite is better than no Star Trek at all. |

I still say that the original show had its fair share of action, and probably would have offered more, if it had not been constrained by budget. Of course, they were probably forced to write more "intellectual" scifi because of that. |
