I don't bother with a VPN. In my opinion, it's not necessary.

It absolutely is necessary. It encrypts the data, so your ISP can't see what you are doing.

It's not necessary unless you are hosting copyrighted material. There's nothing illegal about streaming. If all you do is stream stuff, a VPN is doing nothing but killing your transfer speeds.

I'm not sure this is true... but no one cares about it like they do for people uploading/hosting. I'm with you on the needlessness of a VPN at this point.

ILChief 07-23-2017 06:18 PM

Any recommendations on devices for streaming? Currently I have an Amazon fire stick. I don't think it has the horsepower it really needs. Looking at different Android TV boxes. There are tons of them that appear to range from awesome to crap

Mother****ers just reset every Doom multiplayer character back to level 1, and implemented a new level up system. My character was maxed out, everything unlocked, every hack module was full. Boop, gone.

With all the legal crap happening, it almost makes me wonder if its just not worth using these apps anymore. I know the laws are much different in America but eventually they will take a stab at going after the average streamer. If for no other reason, to scare everyone.

Yes, it would be best if you would quit using KODI at this time. Better safe than sorry. Take care now.

Yeah. The Android app works very well. The required permissions make me a little nervous, but I've been using it for a long time with no problems. Mainly for ESPN. It's pretty reliable as far as free live streaming goes...

ILChief 08-04-2017 05:39 AM

I couldn't get get anything to work on sports devil last night. With NFL games starting, what are these current go to sports add ons? I have had good luck with Made in Canada for baseball, but I don't see a section for football. I was hoping to use sports devil but it's reliability isn't the best. I have never been able to get the pro sports add-on to play a damn thing. It's a reddit scraper apparently

Again, there is no ideal recommended way to get reliable free live sports in KODI. It doesn't exist. Every live streaming addon experiences the same issues that prevent them from ever being reliable. If you have a flash enabled web browser, you can usually find streams for just about any sporting event. But it's nearly impossible to maintain a KODI addon to do the same thing. Every KODI developer that takes on the responsibility of maintaining an addon like this quickly gets burned out with the constant updates and rude demands from people wanting free stuff. For sporting stuff, I completely exit KODI and watch sports streams via Chrome, finding streams on http://www.wiz1.net/schedule.

Sorry, but there's just not a KODI solution for this.

Yeah, I'm noticing the same failures right now.

Exodus still working, although unforunately it just threw up a message saying this would be the developer's last update. Crazy times, although I have no doubt things will stabilize sometime soon. They always do...

No. I've had a Roku for about a year and the fact you can't jail break it has always bothered me. I've been planning on getting the fire stick for some time and the dight is just a good excuse to get it this weekend. If all else fails, I'll just plug my laptop up to the TV but I'd rather not do that.

It wants to use MX Player but I don't have that and just choose to open the streams with ES Media Player. You can also open them with Kodi but I haven't messed with that yet since it's been working for me so far.

Posted that a couple months ago. I still use Kodi but if it is acting up, I use Terrarium. It has ads sometimes between episodes though so obviously Kodi is preferred when it's running normally.

Right now, I'm just using HDMI through my iPad to watch any game on a nice Reddit HD stream.

I'm still using Kodi and it works fine most of the time, just into Terrarium if it's running bad.

For games, I use a browser on my firestick and a website. Streams have been fantastic all year.

ILChief 10-08-2017 08:48 AM

For those of you that use a VPN with Kodi, which do you use? I'm leaning towards vyprvpn. I have tried it, ipvanish, and Nord.

Covenant plugin working really well. I recommend that at the moment.

It can be found in the Simply Caz or Colossus repos.

Firebox is always good. I went the cheap route and got the Fire Stick and every month i'm checking certain sites for what the latest add-ons are. Im happy with the stick and the combo of the Covenant and Bob Unleashed add-ons. Normally no real bad issues.

SuperChief 10-13-2017 08:19 AM

Inside the Simply Caz Repo, install Covenant. You can also try Elysium as well, but it's been unstable lately.

Edit: Nevermind... old ones are still available.... just shipping a little late.

Fish 10-13-2017 09:03 AM

No worries about new Amazon devices. They aren't going to get rid of side loading or anything like that. From what I've heard, the new devices will be updated to be more Echo-like with Alexa voice features and such. Not sure what all that means for Kodi, and whether Kodi will get native voice input or not.

SAGA45 10-13-2017 04:55 PM

Finally upgraded to Krypton 17.4 and loving it. I stuck with Jarvis as long as I could but nothing was playing back...constant 'no streams available' messages. Im mad I waited this long

Fish 10-13-2017 08:09 PM

Yeah, I'm not sure if I should have mentioned that or not. I thought it would be common knowledge.

Update to the latest version of KODI! Every time it's released! The newest version incorporates a bunch of additional URL resolvers and such that you absolutely need if you want decent sources with bufferless streaming. Don't be lazy, update KODI, and you'll find new better sources available.

You really don't need "Tiiiiiiiiiime" to to customize anything, bud. All the customization they do is stupid and unnecessary. That's the point. They install dozens of apps, services, and bullshit that you don't need, that won't work after 3-4 months because they're reliant on completely unreliable stuff. The setup requires updates from a single source, as opposed to the open source github update "Tree" system that the normal legit KODI source provides. That's a huge difference that always always always results in custom builds not getting normal KODI system updates as well as addon updates. Because all of that is dependent on the single developer. KODI developers give up after some time. These custom builds completely die when that happens. I've watched it happen for decades now. The normal KODI open source system allows for many different developers to constantly contribute, and update their code to a centralized open source that ensures the best working stuff gets implemented. These custom builds don't benefit from that, and always age horribly, and when people start having problems, the support is nowhere, because of the dependence. KODI addons depend on constant updates to adjust for changes in website APIs which is where the media sources are actually located. As simple as it gets, that right there is exactly what makes KODI work. Custom builds always always fall behind in that regard over time.

You can do everything you need from install of KODI to watching media in under 10 minutes. Follow the instructions in post #440: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...&postcount=440

That will provide Covenant, Exodus, 1Channel/Primewire, etc. that are all updated by multiple developers. That will provide all the movies/TV you can consume.

Might want to browse here;

https://www.reddit.com/r/Addons4Kodi/

IIRC Covenant was the best until a few months ago. Then they lost a suit regarding a piece of their tech which made their service less useful. I think they built a workaround, but when I put in my new SSD a month back, I went with the Neptune Rising repo instead.

Usually a good idea to monitor sites like above, because with this being open-sourced and everything, support and improvement can be fluid over time. Somebody builds something cooler, and everyone flocks to it, and the old coolest thing gets neglected, rinse repeat.

dirk digler 02-24-2018 11:44 AM

The most frustrating part about using Kodi is you find great addon's then they die. I was loving the Pyramid, it was by far my favorite one then I went to use it today and it no longer works. ****.

One thing people might check out is using a Real-Debrid account. It is dirt cheap and you get very high quality streams. I started using it several months ago.

Does anyone know if there's some kind of hotkey to get to an add-on main page.

I know it's lazy, but it's irritating that every time I watch something through a 'search' it's 8 seperate clicks to get out of the show

episode-->season-->show-->search results--->type of search-->main search page--> etc, etc. etc. etc. !!!!! GAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Just get me back to the main page. Even if I go to Kodi main page, it puts me back at search results if I re-enter the add-on.

No live tv option. Just already aired shows but streams are almost always great. Generally you have one 15 sec ad to deal with after you get done watching a show or movie and then you can watch another. Layout is simple, etc. as well. I used cetusplay to install Kodi on my firestick and also used it to install Terrarium. If you want a free live tv option, look into Mobdro, also installs through Cetusplay. Streams there are more SD though but I find them working better than some Kodi options, or at least more consistently. That is in relation to when I was messing around with Kodi but it's been a few months since then so I can't comment on them currently.

Fish 07-09-2018 12:06 PM

I haven't posted any updates lately as I've been busy with other stuff and haven't watched much TV lately. But here's the current best addons for Kodi, and how to install them:

Quote:

Incursion

I'm a big fan of this one for several reasons. I really like the way it sorts and organizes media. The search works great. And the big plus for me is that it also provides sources from Furk.net. Which is a paid media aggregator that provides lots of high quality media that never buffers. I get 98% of my media from that source alone, and it works really well. I highly recommend this for any other Furk users. It lists Furk sources first, and if it's not on Furk it provides other sources. This provides media library options too, meaning you can add your favorite TV shows to your Kodi library, and this app will notify you when new episodes air and are available for streaming.

Incursion kodi repo: http://incursion.kodi.expert
Addon install instructions: https://kodi.expert/incursion-kodi-a...fork-covenant/

Quote:

Neptune Rising

This is probably the best all around addon at the moment. But it doesn't do Furk support. If you don't pay for Furk, I'd probably recommend this as the current go-to.

Neptune Rising Repo: http://repo.mrblamo.xyz/
Addon install instructions: https://www.wirelesshack.org/how-to-...odi-addon.html

Placenta

Another good all around addon. It also includes other stuff like podcasts, documentaries, music, fitness videos, kids streams, etc. The list of documentaries is worth it alone.

Mobdro is currently the best app for live TV if you're looking for something like Terrarium TV for Live TV:

It's an Android apk, so it only works on Android or emulated.

I know it's lazy, but it's irritating that every time I watch something through a 'search' it's 8 seperate clicks to get out of the show

episode-->season-->show-->search results--->type of search-->main search page--> etc, etc. etc. etc. !!!!! GAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Just get me back to the main page. Even if I go to Kodi main page, it puts me back at search results if I re-enter the add-on.

It depends on the addon. But I'd bet it's possible. It's just python code. You'll just have to find the specific command that corresponds with that action, and then map it to a button using Keymap Editor.

What is this, you say?

EDIT: Also, unrelated, I assume there's a good workaround available for YouTube TV on Amazon Fire, yes?

Thanks for posting this. I haven't used my Firestick lately and when I fired it up last week, Exodus didn't work for me. It would never grab a list of providers. I assume it's dead?
