Interesting thread. Amazing how guys like Trump almost never sleep. It's wiring mostly.

But I have a different topic that may not be worth its own thread: sleeping outside.

As background, our swamp cooler had a broken water line when we started to crank it up this year, and it's hard to fix because it goes up the side of our house and the break was 20 feet up. Simultaneously, we had dinner at a neighbor's house, and he was extolling the virtues of his ductless A/C system. So my wife said that perhaps it was time to consider an air conditioning system, and I've been in charge of that. It's a very slow process since most HVAC people are incapable of calling a potential customer back to schedule an appointment.

So that's the background. It's been in the upper 90s in Denver every day, and our bedroom is on the third floor of our house and what's kind of a large attic layout. It's surrounded by roof on three sides, so it gets brutally hot. 100 degrees plus on these days.

Well, my wife retreated to the living room couch on the first floor since the second floor is also pretty warm. I scouted around and decided that our little third floor balcony could be nice. So I dragged up one of our patio chaise lounges, put a comforter on it, and slept out there.

Man, it's been divine. The temperature drops to the lower 60s at night, so it's very pleasant. I look up at the stars, get my skin caressed by cool breezes, and I'm protected because the balcony has a three foot wall or higher on every side. I want to sleep out there permanently in the summer now. I think that perhaps people are meant to sleep outdoors.

I'm not into camping, but I'm loving this outdoor thing. The house originally had a sleeping porch on the second floor that was removed at some point in the past century, and those original builders knew what they were doing.

Anyone else sleep outside in the summer?

Stop being cheap and put some ****ing AC in that house.

My God.

AC matters

Yes. I don't use caffeine either. Probably drank one cup of coffee total in my life. I'm fine in class with the kids all day. Won't think about energy once. During baseball season I'll take the bus, go to the game ect don't feel anything.

Once I get home and sit down though I usually feel it. Lot of times take an hour nap or so. It's more mental exhaustion though which I find more tiring than physical.

I try to get as much as I feel I need. Weeknights, probably 5-6. Weekends, probably 8-9. Sleep is really good for you and it's free.

I remember when I used to sleep about 8 hours consistently.

Now it’s usually 5.5. Limited time to catchup on weekends too.

I got my C-Pap 5-10-17. It varies, from 4-7 hours. I haven't taken a nap in a long time.

most men over 40 have this, especially if you are over weight.

I think I went for two years where I probably had 2-3 hours of actual sleep a night. Dude that wrecked me. Glad I sought help.

That's why God created caffeine.

I went from being able to drink a Mountain Dew before bed and then sleeping sound for 12 hours to having a crazy intolerance for it. If I drink a small cup of coffee at 7am, I'll be wide awake most of the night... even when I've tried to build a tolerance.

I'd have a Starbucks doubleshot on Fridays for a while and at least was only paying for it on a Friday night.... but, eventually got tired of even doing that. :(

Stop being a pussy and try Bang Energy Drink. That shit is crazy. I love caffeine. It is awesome. I just wish it wasn't so unhealthy, or the drinks it comes in weren't so unhealthy.

Well, at least you're "tough" though, which I guess will help with the diabetes and ulcers and stuff.

The quest for diabetes continues.
