What is this about playing 4 more years? This has to be a joke, right?

Your hate for this defense is a complete joke. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Hali took one for the team. He took a really, really team-friendly deal and I rarely ever say that (there's always fine print).

Hali has been an absolute steal given what he would have gotten in the open market and he's been worth every penny.

He still has a great role on this team as a depth OLB. We may be overpaying a bit but not much.

Hali played 7 snaps in a home playoff game after having a week off.

Hali ****ing sucks now. I mean he's really bad. And he's only going to be worse next season.

Every dollar over the league minimum is an overpay because the guy's a glorified position coach at this point. This is the same kind of awful takes we got when Mike Vrabel came back.

Hali's absolutely shot. He has nothing left at all.

Yeah....unfortunately, unless he retires, we're ****ed because cutting him would royally **** our cap.

For the sake of conversation, let's take a look at this scenario.

If the Chiefs cut these following players Post June 1st, there's a Cap Savings of $25,950,000 dollars, nearly $26 million in savings:

$10,750,000 - Foles
$1,250,000 - Hali
$7,000,000 - Charles
$4,100,000 - Colquitt
$2,850,000 - Jah Reid

The Dead Money for Hali ($7,333,333), Colquitt ($800k) and Reid ($775k) comes to $8.908,333 million.

So the Chiefs would gain $17 million in cap space by cutting those players. With the estimated $4 million in available cap space, the Chiefs would have a minimum of $21 million to play with, which could include new deals for Berry and Poe, as well as deals for Foles and possibly Charles (league minimum).

Also, Anthony Sherman, IMO, should be the target of a renegotiation/extension. I like Sherman but paying him $2.3 million dollars to have less than 10 offensive snaps a game is a waste of valuable resources.

-Hali gone No since his salary is guaranteed

-Poe gone Most likely, He will be too expensive to keep

-Knile Davis gone good riddance

-Resign Berry Absolutely a must!

-Kendall Reyes gone Why? He's cheap and good depth

-We need to either use Tyler Bray or cut him I would rather keep him than pay Foles $10million

-Not sure what DJ has left in the tank Good question, but don't make a move until we know

-Phillip Gaines CUT Possible. But he would be fine as 4th or 5th CB. He should not start

-Draft a QB YES!!

-Draft a ILB I agree

I would also like to draft a guard with one of our 2nd or 3rd round picks.

Does anyone know how the guaranteed money works with Hali? If he retires does he forego that money? That is the only way that we can not have him on the team next year. But who would do that? I wouldn't. I would drag my ass out there no matter how horribly I performed for $8.5 million. The Chiefs were dumb for ever guaranteeing that money when he was already in decline. But they did. And now they are going to have to eat it. Hali would be a fool to walk away from $8.5 million in guaranteed money.

They should have Tamba retire and have Clark hire him for 8.5 to watch his cat for 5 minutes.

You know, something like Denver did in the late 90's.

Rain Man 01-17-2017 12:01 PM

Now that he knows he can get a holding penalty on every play per James Harrison, he's got to come back. He's going to wreck the league by drawing holding penalties on 50 percent of snaps.

He came really close once to sacking Ben Rottenburger but Rottenburger stepped aside and made a completion for a first down. He was close it looked like he was going get him at his feet but Ben eluded him.

Chiefs just need to blow up this team and out with the old and in with the new.

Hoover 01-17-2017 12:21 PM

There is no need to blow up this team. However what we have to do is keep the roster young, which means we need to flush some of out older players.

While glad we kept Hali and DJ, I knew deep down it was a mistake to give those guys multiyear contract. Now they are both causing some real pain.

The nice thing is that there's very little old. It's Tamba and DJ and Colquitt, though punters age in reverse dog years. Maybe Alex, too. Am I missing anybody?

If "play" equals "stand on the sideline and wave your arms at the crowd in probably the biggest game of your career" then why couldn't he 'play' for four more years?

Playing 4 more years is no more of a joke than him playing 1. Hali was a great, great Chief and will deservedly go into the ring of honor, but he was threadbare last season and completely blew apart this year.

When we couldn't have him on the field for 1/2 the snaps at the very beginning of the season, when he was as healthy as he'd ever be and Houston was nowhere near returning, it was obvious that his body just can't do this anymore.

Thank God we guaranteed that 2017 salary, eh?

His lack of awareness last night in coverage was embarrassing...
That 52 yard haul to Brown was his fault. Three points given up rather than a punt

So anybody that under performs on this team sucks. Except the QB. That's every one around him's fault, and we should just give him another chance...

You are the dumbest poster here, and that says something.
