I don't have a problem with the kids. Kids will do what you let them do. The city simply needs to put a curfew on anyone under 18 that is not accompanied by their parent or guardian. If not, your ass needs to be out of there by 8PM or you will be arrested. Why is that so hard?

Where the ef have you been dude? You're wanted in the Sochi thread you started in DC.

Parents shouldn't let their kids just roam around if they don't have business down there. Here's how that conversation would have gone in my household:

"Dad, can you take me down to the plaza and drop me off?"

"What are you going down there for? You don't have enough money to eat anywhere down there, and you aren't shopping at any stores. No."

And even if I would have had a friend who drove, he still wouldn't want me going down there if I didn't have business down there. Parents need to be parents. I don't care about the color of your skin. Parents are failing.

I work in the area quite a bit. There are some nice areas surrounding the plaza. some real shitty ones aren't that far away, but I don't think the yuppies in the area will allow the plaza to become a victim of "Roving Teen Mobs."

KCPD doesn't have the resources to arrest hundreds of kids a day.

10 or 20 a day should be good to start. Eventually attrition will take effect.

I'm not sure what this means. Do you mean there is a movie theater down there, and they might be down there to see a movie? Then what are they doing roaming the streets if they are there to see a movie? Again, my parents would have never gone for that. If they took me to see a movie, they were waiting for me when it got out. There was a pizza hut next to the theater here in town that I worked at in high school. On Friday and Saturday nights, we'd have a hoard of them in front of our doors and it blocked customer traffic. This issue isn't exclusive to the plaza. Also, I'd have no problem with them being down there if they were respectful to others. They are blocking traffic, starting fights, and even firing shots. They are being a menace.

I didn't even here of the plaza until I was out of high school. And when I did it was more of an adult type place that you go for dates and shopping. Not just some place to hang around and loiter.

I do not allow my 17 and 20 year old to go to the Plaza without me at night. During the day it's not so bad.

You forbid your 20 year old from going to the Plaza without you?

I actually do admire the mobs on some level. When the private sector couldn't care less if you exist and your city government & school system can never get it together, why not make yourself heard in the most symbolic place in the city to do so.

Once those troubled yutes start ruining a place its hard to stop it until it is ruined and they find another place to ruin. Its one of those cyclicle things. A troubled yute cyclical process of destruction.

That's sweet. I had a cousin and his girlfriend who were put into their little shitty car at gun point, taken a few blocks away to a dead end street, robbed of less than $3 cash and change and then pistol whipped.

nice place.

The problem is, a lot of people shirk their responsibility for parenting by being absent or by expecting schools and police to do it for them.
