OC is important for THIS team because Cassel needs a top flight OC to cover his weaknesses.

I suppose in the end I should be happy we made a shit hire, though, because it's just going to speed up "the process" of flushing all this patriot way shit.

I think you vastly overestimate the value of an offensive coordinator.

Here are your top 10 offenses from last year:

Green Bay
New Orleans
New England
Detroit
San Diego
Carolina
Atlanta
Philadelphia
NY Giants
Houston

Notice anything? Here, let me be more clear. Same list:

AARON RODGERS
DREW BREES
TOM BRADY
MATTHEW STAFFORD
PHILLIP RIVERS
CAM NEWTON
MATT RYAN
MICHAEL VICK
ELI MANNING
SCHAUB/YATES*

Who gives a shit who the offensive coordinator is? In fact, from what I can tell of the offensive leaders, if you don't have a top-flight QB, you better be able to run the ball*, which at least Daboll can do.

Still, this team can genetically engineer a Bill Walsh, Don Coryell, Mike Martz super-hybrid and we won't win shit until we sack up and go draft a QB in the first round.

TRUTH BOMB

Think about how ****ing stupid the decision makers leading your franchise have to be to go from Bill Muir to Brian Daboll.

even you would agree that Daboll is an upgrade (very minor one) to Muir.

It's truly shocking.

As our old pal htismaqe always said, less than bad does not equal good.

Pioli didn't put any effort into the search for an OC. He didn't do his due diligence. He just threw his hands up and grabbed the nearest schmuck from the Patriots Bro Network.

Pathetic.

Well stated. IM sure Toddy Haley will look like a genious again with Big Ben as his QB.

Pathetic.

You can bitch about coaching until you're blue, but none of it matters until we replace Cassel.

If you wanna cry about Cassel, I'll be right behind you, bitching all the way.

Bitching about Daboll now makes zero since.

If our OC hadn't been such an idiot in 1995 we probably wouldn't have been bumped by the Colts.

Pioli is trying to win a SB the non traditional way.

If he's gonna do that, he needs a strong OC.

He doesn't get it, so I'm gonna bitch.

No, you need a strong QB.

Hammock Parties 05-22-2012 04:22 PM

Let's take a look at game manager QBs who won SBs, and their playcallers.

05 Steelers/Ben Roethlisberger (before he was a rapist) - Ken Whisenhunt (obvious)
02 Bucs/Brad Johnson - Jon Gruden (obvious)
01 Pats/Tom Brady (before he was TOM BRADY) - Charlie Weis (obvious)
00 Ravens/Trent Dilfer - Brian Billick (obvious)
90 Giants/Jeff Hostetler - Ron Erhardt (fairly legendary)
85 Bears/Jim McMahon - Ed Hughes (looked this guy up, solid track record)

Yeah, I'd say it's fairly important to have a strong playcaller/offensive mind leading your offense if you don't have a stud QB.

So unless Pioli knows something about Daboll that's not obvious to the rest of us, well, ****.

x1000 times this!!

Hammock Parties 05-22-2012 04:23 PM

A good OC would have taken the ball out of Bono's hands. We were running roughshod over the Colts that day.

chop 05-22-2012 04:24 PM

You cannot always judge a coaches success by his previous teams record. When Belichick coached Cleveland, he had a losing record. Marv Levy didn't do squat for the Chiefs but got the Bills to 4 SB's. Every good coach still need good players to win. Belichick wouldn't be the genius without Tom Brady. On the flip side, Brady may not be the player he has ended up being without Belichick.
