I, like the government, prefer to purchase ammo in bulk as it reduces the overall cost. It will take me a year and a half, if not longer, to run through all that.

What surpried me was I got around to unloading all my various bags I had shotguns shells in this weekend so I could put them in ammo cans. I have over 1000 freaking shotgun shells. I had no idea, I figured I was at around 400.

Just realized there is one drawback to upgrading to Dawson sights on my XDm. Now it won't fit in either of the cheapy holsters I have for it because the front sight snags. Just bought a Minotaur Gladiator holster from Comp-Tec for the new 1911 - I guess I'll be getting two.

$425 including shipping. 42.5 cents per round about half the price that other steel cased .223 is going for on the net... when it is even available.

I'm hoping to sell off about half of it to cover some of my own cost. Either that, or trade for bricks of .22lr

Also, I found a site called Lohmanarms.com. They don't have much in stock, but they're taking backorders. I can't vouch for them, but it might be worth a shot. Some of their prices on bricks of .22 seem close to pre-panic levels.

I figured I would post this in here with the ticket information. I know Fraz will want in on this. :)

Youth Baseball Team Raffling AR-15 Rifle

Cowboy Byte

A youth baseball league in central Illinois is in desperate need of cash – so they’ve decided to auction off an AR-15 assault rifle.

Last year the Atwood-Hammond baseball league tried to raffle off half a hog. But they only raised $10 – and barely had enough to pay the local butcher.

So this year a local gun shop provided the league with a Rock River Arms Tactical Operator Two – and the response has been massive.

“My phone has been ringing off the hook,” said Charidy Bucher, co-owner of the Atwood Armory shop. “The response has been tremendous.”

Bucher told me her phone has been ringing since 4:30 a.m.

“People from out of state have been calling,” she said.

She said the winner of the rifle will also receive 260 rounds of ammunition.

“Ammo is just as hard to get as the firearms these days, unfortunately,” she said.

The towns of Atwood and Hammond are about 25 miles southwest of Champaign – where many residents invoke their Second Amendment rights.

“Most people in central Illinois like to go out and shoot with their families,” she told Fox News. “People are interested in preserving their rights to keep and bear arms.”

http://cowboybyte.com/19936/outh-bas...#ixzz2NYk6Mum1

I just gave them a call and I'm buying a ticket. When you mail in your check, they will mail your stub out to you. The drawing is June 29th. If you want to buy a ticket, the tickets are $20 each. Mailing information below:

They had one sitting in Cabela's today so I make them take it out of the case. Nice gun, great feel to it.

I also went into another outfit looking at rifles and they just got in a shipment of.22 LR bullets. Limit 200 per person, so I got two boxes of 100 at $9.95 a box. It felt like I hit the Powerball.

Frazod 03-15-2013 12:07 PM

I was really hoping I'd be able to get it today so I'd have it for the weekend, but they shipped a day too late. Oh well. I've got some new grips for it that I'll probably have to put on by my gunsmith because of the magwell, so that won't happen now until next weekend.

Picked up my new AK-74 on Monday from a local gun store. PBJ

I got it from Atlantic Firearms. It was my first time buying a gun online, and the transaction couldn't have went smoother. I have a feeling it won't be the last time I order a firearm from them.

I don't have any ammo for it yet. Next week, I plan on ordering at least 4 spam cans (1,080 rounds each) of 5.45 x 39.

You need to start checking gun shops outside the larger populated metro areas.

I do a LOT of driving to meet customers in about 17 different states and the 9mm seemed like it was flying off the shelves in the larger city areas since early/mid December.

I have the best luck finding ammo in little podunk towns.

I just picked up a case today. I was going through a small town on a sales run and was told, at their sporting goods store they were getting in some .22 shells. I talked to the dude behind the counter into stashing a case away for me. 10 boxes of 225 rounds at $14.99 a box. As a bonus, it's winchester high velocity hollow point ammo, not the garbage.

Yeah I got another brick earlier in the week, but that was after buying another .22 rifle. Today was like hitting the Powerball. Those are darn nice guns. They are still out there, but you have to keep after it. Don't give up. A local sporting goods store had one about 4 months ago.

On a side note, it you do find one, DO NOT dry fire it. They are great guns, but dry firing them will break the firing pin on that model. You may get away with it a few times, but sooner or later, snap.

Been thinkin about getting one. But prices will need to drop! Can't see myself spending $4k on a revolver.
