We don't win the Wild Card Game without him. He struggled in the ALDS but was solid in the ALCS/World Series. |
He had 3 doubles and no HR in 50 post season AB. His post season OPS was the same ad Dysons season OPS. He was a non factor all October

How? That's 10 war @ 6m per which is still 10m below his contract. And that's only for league average payrolls which AZ isn't.
He has to do 3-3.5 war per to justify and I doubt he will |

The value of a win is the same to all teams. Lower revenue teams benefit more from surplus value per win, which he can easily provide, should he produce at the above level. http://cdn2.sbnation.com/assets/3387523/YtY_Graph.jpg |
I don't know what WAR chart that is, 7M/per in 2009 after the recession? FG has used 6M as the metric. As to the argument of "surplus value", we're saying the same thing. If you want to use 7M as the average and then grade it positive/negative afterwards, that's the same as me saying they're adjusted for payroll as the first order.
I will admit I thought AZ's payroll was low. It's not. League avg was 112 and they were right on the dot. They blew incredible amounts of cash on these turds: 1) Aaron Hill $11m (-0.7 WAR) 2) Miguel Montero $10m (1.2) 3) Cody Ross $9.5m (-1.2) 4) Bronson Arroyo 9.5m (0.5) Surely whoever that GM is has already been fired, sued for malpractice, imprisoned and set for execution. |
Billy. Class act. Great royal. I'll miss him
