That conversation begins and ends with King Felix at this point. I don't think Duffy's total innings qualifies him yet either.

yeah, and if he falls off a cliff, it'll be Chris Sale.

Duffy might possibly qualify by the end of the year, so if by "in the conversation" we mean "we'd be talking about these guys if the top 2 didn't exist" then yeah, he'd be in that conversation for 3rd place.

Shitty time for Sal, Moose and Billy Ray to go yard. GMDM is confident that "we're good"

I think i may be in the minority but i think our playoff position is so tenuous that making a big trade is probably a bad idea. If we were in 1st and looking forward to the divisional series sure, but not now. I also don't want to sell because with a decent winter we can still contend in 2015. (Prices are much lower in the winter so trading now for 2015 is dumb) So, i want us to do nothing. If we make the playoffs great but it'll have to be with the flawed players we have like Butler and shields.

Y'all took the shitty Justin Maxwell from us last year and gave up a decent pitching prospect in return. Chris Carter, anyone? :)

Sell Shields

The Royals are not making the playoffs. The math simply isn't in their favor. Therefore, it's asinine not to trade Shields.

Furthermore, Davis isn't coming back as a $7M setup man, so we'll either watch him walk, or the club could actually do something smart: trade Holland.

Move Davis to closer in '15.

Think the Dodgers will bite after the Giants acquired Peavy?

Do they have anything worth trading for?

The Royals literally have to win at a 2-1 clip the rest of the season to guarantee themselves a post season spot. Anything COULD happen, like them making the wild card with 84-85 wins, but what's the odds on that happening? The brutal honesty is that this team just simply does not have the offense as it is constructed now to support winning at a 2-1 clip the rest of the way.

They arent selling in the next 5 days. You cant justify it to the fanbase being 2 games out from the wildcard.

Love to have Joc Pederson, but the Dodgers aren't a great fit for the trade.

Would love to see if Taveras could be stolen out of STL for Shields + Holland + a prospect.

Deez, I have to disagree with you when you say, "The Math simply isn't in their favor". The Royals are only two games from the 2nd wild card.
The team that currently has the 2nd wild card is the Yankees. They Yankees have multiple series against the O's which are currently in first place. They also have multiple series against the Jays which were in first until a couple weeks ago. And, they play multiple series against the Rays who have won 8 in a row. To add to that, the Yankees also play 7 games against the Tigers in August. The Royals will either gain on the Yankees or the Tigers.

One game behind the Yankees for the 2nd wild card are the Jays and 1.5 games is Seattle. The blue jays play multiple series against the Yankees, O's, and Rays.
Seattle has multiple games against the A's (which has the best record in baseball) and the Angles (who have the 2nd best record in baseball).

So, based on the math, the Royals are still very much in it.
