Out of morbid curiosity, did those that stayed at the apartment complex do any better? I'm guessing so.

I know of two people that stayed there (in different apts) and survived.

Damn I am sick of these already!

Missed my house by 1.5 miles... NW Guthrie not so lucky... It was pretty damn scary, something about sirens and a nasty storm just makes things freaky...

No reason not to - w/ these type of threads often people will stick inside ONE of them - but seldom toggle between two or three. So I definitely would. Good to know you're ok, gotta ask these days w/ all of these conditions.

This is a link to an interactive map of the damage area. Really puts things in perspective.

OK, this took some sleuthing, but just got a message from TW's COUSIN on Facebook:

I think he has lost power, so he cannot post on the internet as of now, but I heard that his house was not hit by the tornado
Anyway, it at least sounds like most of the Planeteers we know of are OK. Hopefully there aren't any that we're forgetting.

Sirens going off in Joplin ...... I am praying it misses you all down there.

Reporting a tornado hit down outside of Joplin

Funnel clouds, possible touchdown about 10 miles North of Joplin

Not so fast. There's a tornadic cell in OK right now that looks like it will miss Joplin to the South, but who knows, that storm could change course more northward.

If it stays on course, though, it looks like it will go through Springfield.

A large part of that storm is about to hit our area. It's been advertised as the
Perfect storm. Luckily, our hills seem to have a way of diffusing tornadic energy. Hopefully that holds true tonight.
