The Chiefs choke against the Jets, but it's not near as bad as THIS.
https://scontent.fmkc1-1.fna.fbcdn.n...ab&oe=5952D7F4 LOL DONKS. Denver blows the #1 seed, sending Cleveland to NY for the AFCCG. The Jets beat CLE, and then take out Dallas in the Super Bowl. The Chiefs feel a lot better about their divisional loss. John Elway is so distraught over his epic playoff failure he does something rather rash... https://scontent.fmkc1-1.fna.fbcdn.n...94&oe=5953484D The Chiefs lose Joe Montana and Lomas Brown to retirement. Another hole to fill at RT, great! THE 1997 OFFSEASON Retirements Quote:

The Chiefs DO re-sign HB Tim Hall to a cheap 3-year deal, and then do the only logical thing with Will Shields: https://scontent.fmkc1-1.fna.fbcdn.n...35&oe=5988CA38 Shields tag will cost only $9M. This leaves the Chiefs with $25M in cap room. Free agency is a rash of big names and the Chiefs zero in on one target who is NOT getting away.
Spoiler!
Hell yeah, son. The deep ball is coming back to Kansas City. ROCKET signs a 5-year, 34M deal. The Chiefs also ink cheap deals with: Quote:

Let him ****ing go. 80 Throwing Power? |
All u need is accuracy brah :D

He's going to get broken in half this season. Like, literally broken in half.
Bring back the old Madden ambulance... http://i3.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/...21/985/1ec.gif |
I was so very, very close to getting Tony Gonzalez. The top two tight ends were both second rounders, so I knew I would be able to get one of them.
Even though he was the 2nd rated TE on the board, I decided that the guy who had B+/B/B- scouting traits was going to be the Gonzalez doppleganger, vs the guy who had a C mixed in on his last trait. He also had a faster 40 time so I figured his OVR was definitely going to be higher. I let the first guy go, and then as soon as a TE-needy team was up, I traded up to 2.16 (it only cost me a 7th and next year's 4th) and took my guy. Then at the end of the draft I looked through all the overalls and kicked myself. The top guy was a 77 vs my 74, so I get Freddie Jones, which isn't altogether horrible. Just picked the wrong guy. The Texans are going to be lethal with Plummer, Gonzalez, Terry Glenn and Chris Warren. As for Joe, Bob Whitfield might have something to say about that. :D I'm counting on a HUGE resurgence of my passing game now that my best WR isn't a rookie (ROCKET, BABY) and Desmond Howard isn't dropping half the balls thrown his way. What a terrible, terrible signing he was. But at least he was cheap. |
You're going to trade up for one of the QBs next year and get stuck with Leaf. I'm calling it.
|
Quote:
I would have to be completely fooled by the CPU when it generates the QB class, which would take something like the top 3 quarterbacks having two out of their 3 accuracy ratings remain a mystery, or having it generate no first-round prospects at all, which definitely makes things harder. A lot of times the best QB in a draft class comes in the 4th round. It's more likely that I **** up and don't pick Manning, and end up with the second or third best QB from that class, which would be Matt Hasselbeck or Brian Griese. If that happens, well, Donovan McNabb and Daunte Culepper are coming out in '99. :D Also, another possibility is that the CPU team sitting at #1 or #2 simply won't take my trade offer of three 1sts. Then I may have to gamble on trading for a lower top 10 pick, and then try flipping THAT for the #1 pick. |
The rich 1997 UDFA crop falls as so:
Sammy Knight to Redskins Matt Lepsis to Chargers Joe Andruzzi to Cardinals Pat Williams to Colts Bryan Robinson to Panthers Jake Delhomme to Bills Jon Kitna to Falcons Priest Holmes to Bears DON'T SAY IT'S PRESEASON, THE DEEP BALL IS COMING BACK TO KANSAS CITY, CUZ <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/PIBS-HLsr0M?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/aClO_zw1-sk?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Shut up, bitch. IT'S RED ROCKET TIME!
|
Love the rocket. Great stuff to be had.
Only if Joe's arm can take it............. |
Well, it won't be hard to pick Manning out of this group. :)
Now the only challenge is getting into the right draft slot to guarantee I get him. He's projected as a "late 1st rounder" but you never know. https://scontent.fmkc1-1.fna.fbcdn.n...2d&oe=59814B52 |

Chiefs beat the shit out of the Dolphins and Rick Mirer in Week 1, 35-14.
Week 2....Vinny Testaverde is hurt and the Browns have some spare named Tony Rice starting. Yet another CFL castoff. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_R...rican_football) The Chiefs offense is cooking. Look at Rocket outrun the defender on this simple quick out. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/PprIgVSLqik?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Unfortunately Tony Rice is ****ing owning me. LMAO <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/cGiFS7T5Rx8?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> WHAT THE **** CHIEFS DEFENSE <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/whUXJNHdSOM?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Tony Rice is going John Elway on my ass. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/oA30wOBjEV8?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> So, after falling behind 35-24, I cut it to 35-27. I'm driving and hit Rocket for a short gain. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/NOl1YbFnE4A?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> OH JOY. My prize free agent is injured. Even so, I get a TD. Here's the 2-point conversion: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/srDck8-2vkI?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> AAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH. But I do get the ball back and drive into field-goal range. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Lw8jXYkwI3c?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Bullet dodged, as the Chiefs escape Cleveland and Dirty Rice with a 36-35 win. Montana throws for over 300 yards in the comeback. The Chiefs offense has been awesome through two weeks. But after catching 15 passes and 2 TD in the first two games, Rocket is out for 3 weeks with a broken thumb. |
Question for you ASS11. How are you setting up your draft classes every year ? Are you editing all the players or are you only editing certain ones ?

1997 Midseason DUMP
The acquisition of Rocket Ismail has been an unquestioned success. RED ROCKET has IGNITED the Chiefs offense like never before. The Chiefs rank: 7th in offense (411) 16th in passing (247) 2nd in rushing (163) 1st in points per game (33.9) And it's all thanks to RED ROCKET, who leads the league in TD catches. https://scontent.fmkc1-1.fna.fbcdn.n...d1&oe=597EA230 RED ROCKET has helped the aged Joe Montana enjoy his best season as a Chief yet, as he leads the league with 18 TD passes, 9.0 YPA, a 109.6 QB rating, and is well on his way to his first 4,000-yard season in Kansas City. Meanwhile, Terrell Davis is enjoying another fine season, with 765 yards rushing and 11 TDs. Rookie TE Freddie Jones has filled in admirably for the injured Keith Cash, with 25 catches and 2 TD, and Eric Moulds has paced RED ROCKET with 37 catches of his own, for 446 yards and 2 TD. Even with Ismail missing two weeks with a broken thumb, the Chiefs offense has been sizzling. Here Montana finds Moulds beating Cris Dishman deep in a 24-10 SNF Week 4 win. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/M8UsMdvDTxw?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> After the bye week, RED ROCKET returned to rape the slowest corner in the NFL, Atlanta's Audray McMillian, who was FOUR YEARS INTO RETIREMENT IRL 1997. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/lJCVbeTjYuc?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Freddie Jones also notched his first career TD against the Falcons. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/aT3fpgWC_pE?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The star of the day though was Joe Montana, who set a new personal Chiefs record with 384 yards and 5 TD passes, earning Player of the Week honors. The following week, the Chiefs CRUSHED the bills 31-6, thanks in part to Terrell Davis opening the game by making Phil Hansen lose his jock: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/H8-MSdnnLqA?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> RED ROCKET RED ROCKET!!! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/e-Z99oSg66k?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> REEEEEEEEED ROCKET'S IN FLIGHT! AAAAAAAAFTERNOON DELIGHT! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/a8nJMuBNbxE?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> In Week 8 the Patriots, who are a disappointing 2-6 despite having the most loaded roster in the NFL, played the Chiefs close for three quarters, but Deion Sanders ensured they never took the lead: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/30idzR6qG3k?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Troy Brown then gave the Chiefs the lead for good. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/P65DehUzIME?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The Chiefs fell behind 22-14 against the Broncos in Week 9, but RED ROCKET! RED ROCKET! RED ROCKET! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/L_M8SQnfzak?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> It all adds up to an 8-0 Chiefs team, clearly the league's finest, steamrolling towards the playoffs. The Jets are going to get some payback in Week 17, and then we're bringing home the Lombardi they stole from us last year, gents. See you on the Plaza. http://i.imgur.com/d6NNtfw.jpg Bonus content: suck it, Raiders. https://scontent.fmkc1-1.fna.fbcdn.n...67&oe=59863653 |

It's a real shame. Basically the year the Chiefs finally get an elite QB and team, I give up hope with Madden. Maybe this years version will be better. Who am I kidding? I've been hoping for that every year and it's been disappointing.
|
Drafting and developing a QB was always my favorite part of franchise mode so naturally my interest took a hit once we found Mahomes.
I have been jonesing to play some Madden lately (always happens this time of year) so I will look into Madden.. is it 23? Idk if I will get it though. Probably not. |
that's why you need to play - playing with mahomes is so much ****ing fun
there's absolutely nothing like the feeling of running out of the pocket and throwing a no look back across your body after he retired in my other franchise i was a sad panda |
