And that meme is hilarious

Unfortunately they can't get Galactus until they get the rights to Fantastic 4. Annihilus is pretty badass but not sure how easily you can translate him into a movie.

For comic book readers, the Annihilation series was amazing. You have Thanos, Galactus and Annihilus appearing and a lot of origin story for the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Welcome to the new norm. Some asshat beancounter in a 4th floor cubicle figured out that if they push these extras to the point where there's just enough of a substantial change to the theatrical release they can get a healthy boost in doubling dipping from people who saw it at the theatre.

As if you had to be a genius to put that revelation together. Before there was some sanctity in the art and craft, and what a final cut meant.

Alternative cuts aren't new, but never used to be the norm, and typically their existence had an interesting backstory as to why they existed.

BvS's ec actually filled out the what should have been the theatrical release instead of the barebones cut it originally offered by cutting 20% of the runtime.

SS, while only clocking in around an extra 13 minutes, of course is fattening it up with the character that was promo'd and billed on being in it in about 50% of their marketing. All the gorilla advertising around the film initially surrounded Leto and his character. Yet somehow the theatrical release has only 6 - 8 minutes of the Joker.
How nice they're going to reinsert him.

Of course I'll watch it, because I'm still just another sucker, but I won't spend a penny seeing the extended cut.

I'm hoping this ends the extended shit/odd editing with Johns over seeing things going forward.

Thankfully it is only a DCEU issue, in that here it is being used to "fix" movies. Everyone else uses it to either add to, or improve, not fix, the movie.

I thought Robbie did well. Smith I thought did better than my remarkably low expectations. Other than that, meh.

LanTera 02-07-2019 05:19 AM

Well I heard there'll be new movie about Harlie Quinn

Sure-Oz 02-13-2019 05:13 PM

@ConnorBehrens: Harley Quinn not expected to return in #TheSuicideSquad tells me James Gunn is going to use a completely new cast of characters, which will definitely be interesting.

See, the problem I feel is that he WANTS to be a that wacky and weird actor so he acts like what he thinks that is. In reality, he is a talented man that wants all the attention all the time.

It's like the two kinds of "the weird kid" in elementary school. There is the weird kid that talks to no one (probably bc of autism) and plays by himself, and then there is the other weird kid that eats his boogers in front of you and shouts random shit at inappropriate times. One is weird the other is acting weird for the attention.

I'm not as up on DC lore as I am Marvel, but isn't Harley essentially the defacto leader of Suicide Squad?

Basically esp in comics but she is involved with the Birds of Prey. I know SS has several options to be on the team but typically she's the one. Not sure how to feel about it but guess we will see

Sure-Oz 02-16-2019 01:45 PM

Ok...so Harley will be in SS. Good.

I thought the movie was a crappy disjointed mess. To me it felt like the editor/director/(?) didn't know what he/they wanted to do with the footage. Jared Leto as The Joker was a laughable shitshow. Will Smith as Will Smith Deadshot bored me. Margot Robbie interested me though. I think she has the chops to pull off the lead in a movie like this if they just get out of the way and give her a good story.

I saw him on Luther and enjoyed him as an actor. It was a bit hammy but that's kind of how the show was. I think I'd prefer him over Smith.

Can't be any worse as Deadshot than he was as the Gunslinger.

Agree with the other comments here. Robbie was the breakout star for sure. The story was a mess. Director/Editing issues. etc. The movie had issues. But, it has potential. I'll give this version a chance. Robbie in her costume will be fun to watch even if the movie sucks.

Stallone will be awesome as King Shark. :D

I had forgotten that movie came out, and being almost all of my knowledge of super heroes comes from cartoons, I thought I somehow might have missed something with Nighthawk and some other characters and HQ. Jumped onto youtube to watch the trailer and was reminded why I had forgotten it. When the trailer can't make it look interesting...

The first 20 or so minutes aren't bad. It goes way, way, way south from there.
