Both are adequate WRs. Neither are Rice. I'm happy to have Thomas.

If Bowe could stay in KC or go and play for the Broncos. Money and contract don't factor in...which do you think he would chose? The Donks or the Chiefs?

You'd have to ask him.

I'm sure he'd like to play with a real QB just once in his career. Just to know what it feels like.

There is almost no doubt in my mind he would chose to be a chief.....

Yeah, he could go to Denver and play with manning, and be one of four receivers he has to fight for the ball. Who does he have to fight with in KC?

I could be wrong. Bowe just doesn't strike me as that type.

Let's see. You're a WR and you can stay on a team that might go 8-8, or go to a team where you will be a fundamental part of a super bowl run with a future HoF QB, very possibly get a ring and shower with champagne.

Hmmm.... What to do, what to do?

Only Snoopy would believe a WR would stay with Snoopy's beloved Smiff rather than win a SB.

That decision isn't available to him. It's not even within the realm of possibility. Even when he was about to become a free agent before he signed his extension, there was absolutely zero possibility that he could be just let go for nothing and get signed with the Broncos. Sure, he could have demanded to be set free/traded, but I'm sure he was satisfied with what he had here in KC. Why be a bitch when the future is uncertain (would Denver even want him?)

It's just a stupid question all around. Would he play for Denver if he could if there was no mess or fuss with new contracts/trades etc.? Probably. Would he drive his favorite type of car if one magically fell out of the sky? Probably.

Actually, it does.

Bad QBs tend to throw poor passes that are more easily dropped.

A Matt Cassel laser at your feet that you duck down to catch and "drop" counts just as much as a perfectly thrown wobble from Peyton that lands in the breadbasket and bounces out.

Knowmo wrong as usual.

I claim victory and none shall take it from me today.

Normally, the sight of Peyton Manning laying flat on his stomach on the Sports Authority Field at Mile High grass would be the type of thing that would give Broncos fans – and not to mention his coaches – nightmares.

Yet there Manning was Saturday night, playfully -- if not gracefully -- diving belly first in the north end zone and sliding across the soaked grass.

For a few minutes at least, Manning was 37 going on 17.

"Pretty decent, I think. I got pretty good range," Manning said later, laughing as he evaluated his belly flop. "You know, 5-yard slides. It was fun. I felt like a kid. I don't know when the last time I got a chance to do that was, on a professional venue like that."

They were all there for the photo. In fact, the receivers played a prank on Manning right before they shot the SI cover.

Quote:

You can also see how it might be enjoyable to give him a little grief, especially because he considers himself to be prank-immune. Which is why, on the morning of the photo shoot for the cover of this magazine, Decker and Welker pulled aside the photographer and the Broncos’ head of media relations, Patrick Smyth, and told them their plan. Then, when Manning arrived for the shoot, the receivers told him to get changed. Manning didn’t understand. “Didn’t you hear?” Decker said. “We’re doing it shirtless.” The quarterback became quite flustered, according to Welker: “He was hedging, like, Maybe a few years ago, but not now. And then he was asking Patrick Smyth about it, and I’m thinking, C’mon, don’t back out on me now!” Welker laughs. “Finally [Manning] said, ‘No way, I’m just not going to do it. You guys take the photo without me.’ It was hilarious.” Asked about it, Manning goes into deadpan denial mode. “I don’t know about that,” he says. “You got any more questions about Wes?”

I don't think that. In fact, I'm confident we can beat ANYONE in the playoffs because we have Manning. Manning has a better QB Rating in the playoffs than Tom Brady, we'll be just fine.

One of the biggest issues for the Broncos this upcoming season is finding pass rush to complement Von Miller. The team signed Shaun Phillips (+1.3) this offseason for that very reason and he certainly created reason for optimism in his first action. Phillips abused RT Patrick Omaneh to the outside for a pair of hits and a hurry in the second quarter; not a bad day’s work in 15 snaps rushing the passer.
Quote:

Lilja Looks Good

With Dan Koppen out for the year with an ACL injury – and the starter before him J.D. Walton out until at least midseason – the Broncos brought Ryan Lilja (+2.0) out of retirement to fill the void at center. Lilja looked as if he hadn’t been retired at all, playing 41 snaps and proving a force in the run game. A perfect example was at 2:16 left in the third quarter, when Denver ran the ball on fourth-and-one. Though the run ultimately fell short, it was no fault of Lilja’s, who drove NT Lamar Divens a yard-and-a-half off the ball. The center also posted a clean sheet in pass protection, providing early optimism that this offensive line won’t miss a beat once the regular season rolls around.
Quote:

PFF Game Ball

Denver safety Duke Ihenacho shined both in coverage (+2.2) and against the run (+1.1). Ihenacho broke up the only pass that went his way in coverage, forced the Jenkins fumble, and led the team with six tackles, including three stops.
