You can do all of that at Banana Republic and actually look cool, though.

I predominantly shop at Macys (American Rag), Express, or Banana Republic

All make quality, fitted clothing that lasts.

I bought a couple of white casual dress [ie, button with collar, but not right for a suit] shirts that turned yellow after a couple of washings. Turned me off them. Plus the only one in Big Derrty never has any sales, ever.

I've bought their 1MX and Polo's for years.. the fitted MX shirts look prettaaah good on me. Their winter outer-wear is also usually top notch. I agree with the logo and shield business though - even those are mostly on their graffic tees and you can sort through those pretty easily.

I've never had that issue with their shirts, but I don't buy that many button-downs from them. If you want solid button-downs, go with the 1MX from Express. Every now and then, they have an incredible sale. I literally bought 15 in one trip because the sale was so good. (Think I paid less than $20 each on average.)

How is Zara's quality? I've never bought anything for myself from either. I think of both of those as women's stores.

The perfect in-between of casual and dress — nicer than a sneaker but more relaxed than a dress shoe — the desert boot provides a great way for looking smart without suffocating your feet.

The warmer months can be tricky as far as dressing well is concerned. It’s not unreasonable to put comfort before style, but is it really necessary?

Not if you’ve got a pair of desert boots.

Similar in form to a chukka boot, the desert boot is based off a style British Army officers in World War II fell in love with from the markets of Cairo. If you’re not sure about the look, don’t cast the idea off until you see a pair being worn.

The desert boot looks great with jeans and khakis, with a dress shirt or a t-shirt, proving to be one of the most versatile things about spring.

Less rugged than a larger boot like my beloved Fryes and less formal than most oxfords, desert boots provide a nice balance of dress and casual.

The go-to brand for desert boots is Clarks. A classic British shoe company founded in the 1800’s, Nathan Clark launched the desert boot in 1950.

Several styles exist, but our favorites come in suede. The brown pair shown here are known as Taupe Suede and are the perfect warm month replacement of any brown casual boot or shoe in your winter arsenal.

Quite possibly the best shoe...ever.

I've had these boots since 1996, have hiked 100s of backcountry and city miles in them, and they still look almost as good as the day I bought them. They're back in style now as well.

Desert boots were recommended to me by a fashion-conscious friend.

Just because you can't appreciate over 50 years of classic style and tradition does not mean more discerning individuals can't.

I got your back bro.
Top - Polo Desert Boot - those are in that shape after, no shit, 11 years of nearly daily use. For years, they were nearly the only thing I wore in business casual settings. Now that I'm back at school, it's Nikes most of the time, and these boots when winter comes and the jeans replace cargo shorts. They may indeed last forever. Soles are Goodyear welted. They retailed for $225 back when I bought them [just by chance for very VERY much less], and I saw a pair at Macys a year or so ago selling for $375.

Bottom - Johnston and Murphy [I think that they call it the Cumberland nowadays]. Only 4-5 years old, but also not showing wear much at all [outside of laces, oh and the Polo laces are ALSO original]. Very VERY comfortable. Probably most comfortable I own outside my Bacco Buccis.

There are resources available to job seekers which provide suits and shoes for those who can't get them on their own. One such organization is Career Gear. Doesn't look like they have an affiliate in San Diego but your local unemployment office should have information on a local equivalent.

That's what I thought. When gay men ask other gay men about their shoe size, they're determining proper fit.

If you're on the side of a mountain about to ski, then yes, but to just wear them, no. Pretty bad fad. But yes, I've noticed more White Frames, as well. They just don't work for males, they DO look good on a hot female though.

Anywhere from an 11 to a 12.

I tried on some Clark's and 11 was too small and 11.5 fit just right.

I wasn't too impressed by the selection at DSW, I ended up with this just because they were really comfortable, they fit, and they looked fine in the business casual style clothes I was wearing.

Funny thing is dude's try to save money on dress clothes and the truth of the matter is this is the way to do it. A buckfity is about what u need to spend on a shirt to get great quality, 2fity on pants. If you get a great discount on the right pair like I posted they will last 3 times as long, require far less cleaning and you will look 10x better. YOu do the math, we are not even talking about time and effort to find the cheapies 3x over. YOu will spend far less to look WAY better. Bottom line

YOu do the math, we are not even talking about time and effort to find the cheapies 3x over. YOu will spend far less to look WAY better. Bottom line

I agree on shoes. Drop some coin on shoes. But you can get quality slacks and shirts for a lot less than that. When I used to wear a coat and tie 50 hours a week, I dropped a lot of coin at Brooks Brothers end of season sales. I don't think I've ever spend 2 bills on slacks unless it was built into the price of a suit. But you run in different circles than I ever did. I can understand the expectation to sport that high end look.
