Yeah I hear ya, having year-round full-time work hasn't helped me either. I used to kill entire days in this place in my slow times.

Waiting with baited breath.

Got a call for a trouble signal on an alarm panel downtown about an hour ago. So I go there and get the problem straightened out, then when I leave I go to start my van up the horn starts honking and the lights start flashing, and the engine shuts back off. Somehow the alarm on it got armed, and I didn't have the ****ing remote with me to disarm it.

So here I am, behind an apartment building at midnight, horn echoing between all the buildings and lights flashing, making a complete ****ing ruckus. So I decide to pop the hood and disconnect the battery to shut the goddamn thing up.

So now what do I do? Guess I call the wife and tell her my own ****ing van thinks I'm stealing it and she needs to get her ass out of bed, grab the remote and head downtown. But of course, she doesn't answer.

I end up hooking the battery back up, hoping that resets the alarm.

**** no, same damn thing. I frantically click the power door locks switches, nothing. Disconnect and reconnect the battery...same result.

So I start wondering who I can call at midnight to come get me, but first I make one last ditch effort. I stick the key in the door lock, and clicked it back and forth several times. Finally...silence and no lights.

Not sure wtf that was all about, but it's safe to say I'm never leaving home without that remote ever again.

That story probably won't live up to the hype.

First explain to me why the hell my van thinks I'm trying to steal it when I have the ****ing key to it.

Because it's an old van. New cars don't even have ignitions any longer. You just throw the keys somewhere in the car and turn the car on.

The key to telling a good story is to space it out over as many posts as possible and have it end with sex.

Yeah, and today's cars are going to be complete freaking nightmares when they're 10 years old.

That was way too much typing as it was, I left out a lot of details. And I've been married for 18 years so none of my stories are going involve sex.

You're preaching to the choir. My cars today are older than my daily drivers were 10 years ago.

Paula Poundstone made an amusing point on 'Wait Wait.' She has one of those keyless ignition cars, and it runs very quietly. So, many times, she goes shopping and just leaves her car running because she forgets that it is because her keys are already in her purse/pocket.

Man, 2006 was the 1983 draft class for Chiefs Planet. Tons of quality posters.

It was a lot better than 2002, I'll give you that....
