Holy cow. You may be right. And that stuff never decomposes, so it could've been there for a million years. |
The NatGeo show was interesting. For those who missed it, it re-airs Thursday and Friday early evening.

Not sure if any of you guys are redditors, but the team controlling the rover are doing an AMA (basically, a completely open Q&A session) right now over there:
http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comment...s_on_the_mars/ (Look for the username highlighted in a blue circle for the team's responses. It takes a while to get used to reddit's comment thread layout.) |

Is Curiosity's pen leaking or something? I hate when that happens, and you don't know it, and you look down and see that big circular blue-black stain...

I had a dream last night that I woke up to hear on the news about them finding a whole lake 6" under the Gale crater surface.

another face on mars. this one is a gray.

The next mission is already in the works.
http://www.latimes.com/news/nation/n...,4288375.story I would have preferred a trip to Titan or Europa. |

that bigfoot track kinda looks like Dory from Finding Nemo.
Can we get a color enhancement? |

What an incredibly boring mission to follow up this one with, compared to the one that would have explored Titan. Of course they should have a budget that allows them to do both, and more. |

There's a good chance Mars could have once given life to Earth or Earth to Mars but Europa is completely isolated. Much of Jupiter is still just theory. Most gas giants aren't this far out and most habitable planets aren't this far in. Keep exploring. The big question is and will always be " why are we so special?" |
Quote:
The ability to pass by and explore is not dangerous. But if we ever manage to gain the ability to inhabit we could be dangerous. Once we can dominate and leave the solar system the galactic Carl Peterson will tell us to Shut teh fug up and STFD... |

They are going to test drive Curiosity today, BTW. Not a long drive, about 30 feet or so and then reverse.

Interesting. The surface at the landing spot was nice, fluffy Martian sand, until the landing thrusters blew it away to reveal all those rocks.
|
Here's a better video (I think):

Mars is kinda boring now... Cant we go somewhere else?

Ganymede could be another option, molten core creating a magnetic field, 3/4 the size of mars and Galileo caught images of ice geysers shooting up and falling back as snow. Liquid water there too? Could be  |

Its facinating to read and think about and probably true. We are all Martians, just like we are all Africans. |

They thought they found proof of something similar a while back in a martian meteorite. They thought it was a fossil of a martian micro-organism. But it turned out not to be. But the theory is actually sound. |
