I doubt it does. There's plenty of money and we haven't used it. Seems its Being saved for extensions.

I love him but I can’t see him playing till 38.. If we 3peat a bet he might retire.. I will miss the hell out of him when he does..

If we threepeat the very first thing that will happen on the post game stage is he'll grab the mic and promise a fourpeat.

It's a pretty good structure for that reason (and has some similarities to the way they structured Mahomes's contract). If I'm interpreting it correctly, he'll have new guarantees that kick in each year to protect him in case of injury, but the Chiefs can get out of it in a year or two if needed. The "rolling guarantees" structure seems like the perfect way to give a key player some protection but also ensure the club isn't royally ****ed if anything crazy happens.

That's a pretty critical ****-up on Rapoport's part if that's the case...

I’m not sure who’s correct? If it is just a raise, he certainly deserves it.

Sounds like it's either 1) void years or 2) years with no guarantees at all (and amounts that haven't been reported)?

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Chiefs TE Travis Kelce’s 2-year, $34.25 million extension …<br><br>• $17M in 2024, all guaranteed at signing.<br>• $17.25M in 2025, most of which vests as guaranteed next March.<br>• Deal runs through 2027.<br><br>Highest paid tight end in APY and cash the next two years.</p>&mdash; Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) <a href="https://twitter.com/AlbertBreer/status/1785036947859091677?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 29, 2024</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

wazu 04-29-2024 02:35 PM

Sweeney is the only one saying it's not an extension, but it seems unlikely that he would be the one who is wrong on this.

wazu 04-29-2024 02:42 PM

Okay apparently Sweeney was talking out of his ass.
