Which means that Bowe caught 55.3% of the balls that came his way last season, opposed to: Charles: 67.3% McCluster: 63.9% Hemingway: 68.4% Knile Davis: 73.3% Fasano: 69.7% McGrath: 65% Gray: 70% Sherman: 75% And then you have our wonderful stable of suck in: Jenkins: 47.1% Avery: 55.6% Bowe: 55.3% Williams: 44.4% And you wonder why Smith was reluctant to throw the ball downfield? Dorsey can eat a bag of dicks for not drafting a receiver in 2014, a draft considered to be the the best and deepest WR draft since 1996. And people thinking Smith was the problem in getting the ball downfield can munch on a bag of cock as well. |

Go watch Bobby Wagner and Kam Chancellor. They destroyed the Broncos crossing patterns that they feasted on all year. Our middle support was absolutely horrific. Not addressing the spot next to DJ and the FS position in the draft was as inexcusable as not addressing the WR spot. Three of four critical position went untouched (looks like Fulton will fill that RG spot, which was the other major question mark/need going into the off-season for the Chiefs). |
If only there was a way to gain additional information for a greater sample size to get a chance to see if his 2nd half of the the year is indicative of growth and development, or merely an aberration ?
We should ask if he'd and a few other guys would be interested in some sort of weekly test or skills competition. I'm open to suggestions... |

I'm glad you named three guys that won with some of the best defenses in NFL history Alex doesn't have that here. if those QBs had the shit defense Alex has, they aren't winning either. |

Alex Smith's history tells us that he has been reticent to attack. Placing the blame anywhere other than Smith is pure fabricated bullshit, but then that's you. |

Like drafting a Elway or Luck because your team sucked so bad that you had the first pick in the draft when the surest of the sure things was there at the top of the board like they are every 30 years or so? Or hoping beyond hope that you get a Unitas, Montana or Brady somewhere deep in the draft? Just like we did with Stanzi, Croyle, etc., etc., etc.? Smith was as good as we could have hoped for in either the draft or free agency since Reid took over this team. But you keep on deluding yourself that we were just going to have one of those magic moment type of guys fall right into our laps like it happens with every other team in the NFL every single year. Idiot. |

One of the few things we can agree on is the failure to address the OLB and WR spots. |
not addressing the safety position is the biggest failure
no depth at the position and relying on two guys to man 3 safety spots in the nickel for the entire year is a tall task who is even going to be our third safety in that nickel/dime? A converted CB? Phillip Gaines probably? They have literally no one else for the amount of snaps Demps/Abdullah/Lewis all played last year they subtracted TWO of them and added NOTHING for their departure. That leaves a huge void in available snaps and nothing worth a shit on the roster to take them. Don't even try to polish a brokedick like Sanders Commings or some nobody scrub from BYU or that horrible white guy from the Patriots we signed. I don't even want to hear that type of homerism because that's desperation to try and shiny up a turd that will still get beat on Sundays. |

This defense better be ****ing historic. Otherwise, some folks around these parts better start realizing that these guys really aren't as good as they think they are. That absolute collapse against the Colts by this defense should be more of a concern than Alex Smith as it relates to the success of this team in 2014. When players like Houston and Poe and Berry get everyone's love and accolades here on CP, and then they suck as ****ing bad as they did against a Colts offense that was, outside of Luck, ****ing putrid, but then they pound on Smith as the weak link, you have to question some of these peoples ability to formulate rational thought. |

We are definitely getting into the potential territory of this Chiefs team having one of the most overrated defenses I can think of in NFL history on paper based on accolades and still not being close to a shutdown imposing defense. |

Our "pure" wide receivers ****ing suck shit through a straw. That's not on Smith. Bowe, Avery and Jenkins have always had shit for hands. They are shitty route runners. But yet your want to say it's Smith's fault that they aren't getting downfield production? How many times last season did Smith put the ball right on the receivers hands downfield and those receivers screwed the pooch? Let me tell you the answer - A ****ING LOT. You are only as good as the tools you have to work with. When Dex McCluster is your best and most consistent weapon downfield...well, then, I don't know what else to tell you. |
Quote:
How many times did he put it right in the receivers hands downfield? Not many, since he was probably averaging about 2 downfield attempts a game. |

With what they run, Jimmie Ward should have been our first rounder this past draft. |
