Hibbert with 5 fouls in 3 quarters and game over. And people bitch about Lebron picking up 6 fouls with a couple of minutes left in the game.

I think they tried to enter the discussion after the winning streak and dominating the first two rounds. But generally I'd agree. They made Hibbert look like a superstar for the first time... and maybe he will be. But a Shaq or Robinson or Olajuwon in their prime would eviscerate this Heat team. They'd have zero answers.

All speculation. That is like saying if Hibbert played at the end of Game 1 the Pacers would have won and probably would have won this series in 5.

If the Pacers were down 3-1 going into Miami, the series would have been essentially over.

In any case, the Heat got the calls in their home games and the Pacers got the calls in theirs. Officiating ultimately didn't end up being the difference, LeBron did. Makes no sense to complain.

I'm still leaning Spurs after the Heat's display in this series. LeBron can't beat that team alone, he'll neep help from Wade and the others. At least they've got home advantage, which is something they didn't have last year (although it's a 2-3-2).

This. The reason the Heat got away with Wade and Bosh playing shitty is because the Pacers are slightly above average at best on offense. The Spurs will put up points in a hurry and will get out to big leads of Bosh and Wade continue to play like they have the past couple series.

The only thing that's holding me back from picking the Spurs right now is the home advantage. If they had it, I think they win in 6 or 7. But as they don't, it really could come right down to the end.

I am picking Miami. As I have been saying and Kenny Smith talked about it the other night, the Spurs are much better matchup for the Heat than the Bulls\Pacers because they play up tempo transition basketball unlike the walk it up the court\half court offense that they faced the last 2 series.

Cause the Heat won't be able to rebuild fast enough to keep up with his prime. And his decline IMO will be more rapid than most other players. At 6'9 and 275+, he won't be able to do the things he does for much longer than 32-33.

I say he wins 3 in his career.

chiefzilla1501 06-03-2013 10:02 PM

The Spurs are a good matchup for the Heat. For the following reasons.

-The Heat have a tendency of sleepwalking. They do that for even a second, and they're done for. Miami will have to play 4 quarters every game
-Wade and Bosh can't play like games 1 - 6 and expect to win
-Unlike Indiana, San Antonio can shoot. LeBron is going to get his, but so is Parker. And unlike Indiana, San Antonio has quality depth on the bench
-Unlike Paul George, Tony Parker is going to keep a surer handle on the ball
-Unlike OKC, San Antonio is ready for the spotlight
-The Spurs move the ball fast, which is how you beat the Heat. The problem with Indiana is there were too many people who didn't need any real attention

Will be a good series. LeBron played the best series of his career against Indy, but that's not good enough without help and energy from his supporting cast.

So? Players start to decline at that age. You're stupid if you think at his size and explosiveness that he's going to last any longer than they do. Look at Kobe, Wade, Pierce, Ray Allen etc. All those players are 32-35 and they don't put nearly as much stress on their bodies as LeBron does. Yet they're on their last legs.

He'll play at this level for 3 more years and then he'll start being a 20 point a night guy.

LeBron has rolled over cakewalk Eastern Conference competition. I thought he played the best series of his career against Indiana and a good defender in George, so it's not a commentary on him. It's his supporting cast which was terrible against the Bulls and the Pacers.

Every year, he's going to face a tough Western Conference team that is much tougher than any team he played in the playoffs. This year is no exception.

The Heat didn't exactly roll against a really weak Eastern Conference.

The Western Conference is at least good enough to make every championship very difficult to win.

The Bucks don't count. They might as well have played the Tampa Bay Bucs.
The Bulls were missing 3 of their starters, including their MVP calibre guy. And yet, they didn't really dominate that series

The Pacers were a good team. But compared to the Western Conference, they're probably not very good

I am not a LeBron fan. But I admit he played an excellent playoff series. But the Heat as a whole have NOT been very good, except for in flashes. Against real competition, if they played the way they did against Chicago and against Indy, things would have gotten a whole lot more interesting.
