I had jambalaya.

GloryDayz 03-31-2014 09:06 AM

I'll tell you what, the bacon-wrapped steak, kielbasa, and corn on the cob turned out perfectly!

It's not a combo I ever thought of, but it's certainly one I'll do again soon enough...

SAUTO 03-31-2014 10:18 AM

I had gumbo...

Didn't wanna jack around in the kitchen tonight, got a lemon/garlic butter broasted chicken and mustard potato salad from the grocery store tonight... 2 huge or 3 decent sized meals for just under $13.

Not too shabby.

You could have bought six pounds of frozen chicken for only $10. Fool.

I buy whole chickens 2-3 at a time ALL the time fool, or just the bags of frozen breasts... simply didn't wanna dick around with it tonight, don't feel like cooking.

Still... 2-3 filling, solid, tasty meals for under $13? Did pretty good, AFAIC.

Kimchi fried rice
Pad Thai
Kalbi ribs
Pork and crab potstickers

Tasty meal on an unplanned restaurant night.

Mmm, kimchi is an acquired taste, but I must admit a fondness for it.

Who doesn't love some fermented cabbage and hot pepper flakes?

Chicken breast cut up in strips, cooked with seasoning salt, pepper, parsley flakes, chipotles in adobo sauce and sliced jalepenos. Spicy as a some bitch

I was with someone who had never tried it before. It took her two servings before she could decide if she liked it. For the first serving and change, it was "interesting, it doesn't taste like anything I can think of".

Yeah, its good stuff, I said flakes but that's just part of it, the whole head of cabbage is smeared with pepper paste before they ferment it, as I'm sure you know.

Not real sure that I would like it in fried rice, though... I've always had it as a cold side to a hot dish or put it in soups (turns generic ramen into something almost authentic all by itself).

Best damn ribs I've made. I used Sweet Baby Rays as my first coat of sauce. Let that warm up on the grill and my second coat was Buffalo Wild Wings Asian Zing sauce. Holy shit what a excellent combination.
