Are you implying he would take Jones 1 overall, or that he would take a Tyson Jackson type at #1 and get Jones later? I figure him trading for Alex Smith or Flynn is a likely scenario if he doesn't get a QB at #1.

He took Jackson #3 overall. He could definitely take Jones #1 overall.

TBH, though, I suspect he trades down, takes a corner or LT and takes a 3rd tier QB in the 3rd or 4th round.

I could honestly see Pioli doing this:

1st - Trade down 4 to 5 spots and take Manti Te'o*
2nd - Landry Jones
3rd - Trade for Alex Smith

*I would JIMP for 2 seconds and then shoot myself in the head.

Is anyone going to trade up this year? I could see him taking Te'o #1 overall. Sucks we get high picks in crappy draft years.

Also said they've been gauging interest in a trade but no one is showing interest in the #1 pick, but that could change after the combine, pro days etc..

This year, tho, should have erased all doubts that Pioli is the root cause and '10 and '11 were in spite of him and not because of him. Despite the extension (if it happened), I don't see how Clark can go forward with Pioli another year and not completely lose the fanbase.
