I finally went and did the CC Class this past weekend before it's even more of a pain in the ass. Took my son and daughter* as well.
*She has no intent to carry, but as a high school teacher it could come in handy in the future. *Not trying to go "DC" at all with the thread, if my post offends I'll remove it. |

I did mine last Saturday. |
Great Guns in Liberty has 5.56/.223 rounds which I know are hard to come by right now. Unfortunately, 500 rounds is $400

CDNN sports has a lot of mags in stock, you have to call though. No real PMAGS though.

Bah there are some quality ones...you just have ignore obvious troll. Frankly I'd rather see anti-ones that are completely ridiculous than ones that have even an appearance of reality.

Several years ago in a gun topic when I mentioned that I hunt deer with my SKS some know nothing piped off, "What are you trying to do, blow the deer up?" and he actually thought that was a salient point. |
Quote:
This is my brush rifle. I’m not dragging my -06 through the briars, locust, hedge rows and barbed wire so when I go hunting for anything coyote size and up this is what I take and it’s a plain Jane for a reason. I’ve had a folding stock on it that got wobbly which made for inconsistent accuracy so I switched it out for this Draganov style stock and love it. The collapsible stocks out now look to be better quality than the folding stocks that used to be on the market but I’m happy enough I’m not switching now. I have 30 round detachable magazines for it but those things don’t work worth a damn. I’m actually faster reloading with the stripper clips it was built to use and I got real tired of dragging it through the brush and having that long mag grab every branch that went by. The high scope mount is cast into the receiver cover so I can still use the iron sites. Even with the scope turned down to 3X when drawing down on a deer at <50 yards if you can even get the scope on target all you’ll see is fur so the iron sites are actually very handy. The scope isn’t great, its an NC Star Mil Dot 3-9X 42mm which is good enough for me to put 10 rounds into a pattern the size of a 1lb coffee can lid at 200 yards and if I put a longer scope on it with better optics I’d also have to put a shell deflector on it since SKS’s are notorious for dinging scope tubes with ejected shell casings. So it’s not fancy but its reliable and I’m deadly with it. |

anyone recommend a good IWB clip holster for the XD9?
I got my BIL an Aker IWB for his G19, but they dont' make one for the XD9...naturally. I'm looking in the $40- 80 price range; non nylon; non thumb break |

yogos are only up $20, so if you want a cheap sks before the butt-holes politicians change some laws have at her. Think you have to use certain type of ammo with these and don't think you will be hitting 500 yards consistently either. |
Quote:
500 yards is stretching it for an SKS. I can cut paper out there but the round is losing so much velocity at that point I wouldn’t trust it to knock game of any size down. |
Some perspective on the ammo shortage

found some .223 for $9 today for 20 cartridges. I bought all they had which wasn't much
|
Yeeeeeeaaaahhhhhhh. The stuff at the auction went pretty damn high.

I've decided that 2013 will be the "Year of the AK" for me. I originally planned on getting an AR-15 and a pistol before getting anything else. But I'll wait until later to get those.
I ordered some AK-47 and AK-74 mags to start with. I probably paid a little too much, but I'd rather have some mags in my possession, just in case the politicians end up banning hi-cap mags. Next up is a few of 1,080-round spam cans of 5.45 x 39. I missed out on a deal for $170 per can. |

My buddy's reloading stuff finally showed up today - hopefully we'll be up and running by next weekend.
|
BTW, I found an old 15 round Glock 9mm mag from when I still had my 26. I have no use for it now. Tried to sell it on eBay but apparently the liberal ****s got to them because it was delisted. It's about 12 years old, but has been used very sparingly and is in excellent condition.
If anyone's interested, drop me a PM. |
Quote:
But yeah. They were high. Dude I was sittin next to was recording all the prices and he said most of the ones I hadn't done any research on were 300 above retail for the most part. I didn't stay too long. |

Emotion runs high at an auction, but 600 for an SKS is down right idiotic. I go to a few farm auctions and business auctions and most used tools will sale for near their new price. |
Quote:
And sometimes, there are some deals to be had at some auctions, it's hit or miss on the farms stuff. But these were pretty absurd. The thing that surprised me was the stuff that is going to be subject to the bans or restrictions weren't all that much higher than the standard stuff. I thought there would be a pretty good premium for the stuff that could be exposed to the bans. But all of it was high. |
Heads up for anybody wanting some 20-round or 30-round aluminum AR-15 mags. Widener's has some in stock for the moment.

I buy a lot of mine for investment. I was watching some of these go for $100 a pop two weeks ago. Wait it out until the next scare and cash in. It beats the hell out of the ROI on stocks. I made a killing on some AR's and AK's two weeks ago. |

I was just getting ready to post that it's out there, but they are damn proud of it. I was able to snag up a bunch of ammo right when this last scare started. (For all my weapons) Still waiting it out for .223 to go down, but I have 1400 rounds for that now. |

Find me the best price on some AK47 mags....

I have yet to find one thing that Cheaper than Dirt has a good deal on.
I have never bought anything from them, and never will. |

I've bought a couple of things from them over the years, but now I basically view them with the same contempt as the overpriced local gun store I won't ever do business with again. |
