You don't do cpr for pneumothorax

Rain Man 01-02-2023 08:21 PM

I'll be insenstive about this, but is this worse than the Utley injury or the Stingley injury in terms of the impact on the players? I don't know what they were seeing, so it appears to be more traumatic. But in those other games, they just kept going. They've never paused like this.

that is what makes it so weird

I saw both the Byrd incident and the Shazier one. Thing is, both of those guys were breathing and obviously alive when the left the field.

In this case, we don't know if Hamlin is alive. Don't think they should play until they know.

Either that or a forfeit.. happy not to have to be the one who has to make that decision.

The players reactions are what makes me think this has to be really, really bad. Those on the field are the ones in the know of the potential severity here.

I mean, if they were actively resuscitating him, they would not be waiting. There is also no way they called the code in the stadium. This may be a good sign. That they are willing to wait

Not that serious as long as he kept getting oxygen via CPR. Our son had an issue with this when he was 18. Collapsed twice. Scary as shit though.

Could be very serious if it leads to a tension pneumothorax which can lead to cardiac arrest.

Unless they coded afterwards, which seems extremely unlikely

The other option is to forfeit.
