This team is really testing the limits of post-championship goodwill.

I keep forgetting about Burns, that's solid from him. They've definitely run out worse players in CF, though my hope is that the CF of the future ends up being brought back in a trade (if they sell). Andrew Stevenson of the Nationals, Magnerius Sierra of the Cardinals are two of the guys I imagine they'd covet. Believe Sierra is pretty key to the Cardinals system and likely unmovable, though. |

Crazy how attendance goes down from a championship team to a team that missed playoffs. Ground breaking information there

Fun night at The K last night, good to see the offense come alive in-person for the first time this year. A win today can get us on the right track heading into the weekend series with Cleveland.
Strahm was nails last night, it was too bad he gave up that solo shot to Abreu. I can live with the solo shot, as long as he's making the opposition earn it.. which he has. Since being called back up, he has yet to walk a single batter and has 8 K's. That will play. Karns was money, good to see the back-end of the rotation net us a win coming off of the heels of Duffy's last start. Hosmer has looked good in games 1 and 3 of this series. Not coincidentally, the moments he has shined in this series are the times few and far between this season he has been willing to drive the ball to left and center fields. If he isn't willing to simplify his mechanics at the plate, that's his next-best compromise. |
Hosmer is admitting to his bad plate discipline and trying to pull the ball. Hopefully he's getting back on track
|
Yeah, hopefully Hosmer has been sufficiently chastened by his bad start. If he stays in his lane, he'll either lead a climb back into the playoff race or (more likely) improve his trade value for the impending fire sale. Win-win.
