MINNEAPOLIS - The man convicted of killing two teenagers inside his home in Little Falls is appealing his life sentence to the Minnesota Supreme Court.

The two cousins were unarmed when they allegedly broke into his house on Thanksgiving Day 2012.

Smith returned to court in Little Falls in August for a restitution hearing and testified for the first time and argued against paying restitution to the victims' families.

had to use google to find the thread

Restitution, what do two teenage thieves come up to? About $40 a piece?

Pretty much this, i can't imagine breaking into someones house and expecting a warm welcome or even to be alive. You take your chances, and sometimes u suck the pipe for that chance.

Bullcrap. The law is very clear in most states. If you need to defend yourself, then you can. We do not need a blanket "hey if he breaks into your house, anything goes, you can even torture them if you want, whatever, its their fault for breaking in" rule.

All this guy needed to do is not be an evil, sadistic, murdering piece of crap.

True also, dudes pretty strange for sure and I don't side with him. Still you can't break into someones house and expect daisies unless you be pushing them up.

Why hasn't this clown been viciously sodomized and murdered with a broken broomstick in prison yet?

The dude is a strange one for sure and deserves what he got but c'mon who thinks it's kewl to break into houses? Not something someone in their right mind would do.

If the person who breaks into your house is any kind of threat to you, or even if they aren't but you reasonably believe that they are, then deadly force is certainly justified.

That's not the case here. The dude committed multiple first degree murders because he was pissed off.

It's not cool to break into houses. But it's not a death penalty offense.

Why even risk it?

Why even be that ****ing stupid to think that you wont face life ending consequences?

Dude should be in jail.

He doesn't owe jack shit to the families of the victims though.
