Deer and elk season opened here on Friday. I found this guy Friday afternoon bedded down with 3 small bucks but was never able to get closer than 400 yards. I found him again Saturday morning in a perfect spot and was able to take him. The bad part is he slid 200 yards further down the hill when I shot him. Only way out is up, but I had a couple of friends willing to work for a fried turkey dinner and some beer.

:eek:Holy Mother! I will never bitch about dragging my deer out again...that picture with the river in the background really nails it...

...nice buck!

If it offically scores that at least in Missouri that means you are in the statewide Big Buck club.

Nope its here in southeast Kansas ... Greenwood Co ..

ChiefsCountry 11-16-2008 11:50 PM

Dad was hunting about 30 - 40 miles east of you sat morning and took an old 8 point that was 19ish inches wide and 16ish inches tall. Said that two bucks came running past him about 45 minutes after shooting time. He thinks he shot the bigger of the two but didn't have time to count points. The other deer was real close to the same size. He said they both ran between 30-40 yards from him and everything happened real quick. Dad's shot deer with more points, but this is the biggest he's ever shot. Asked him if he was going to take it to a taxidermist but he said he just wacked the horns off because it would cost too much. Cheap old man, the scope on his rifle probably cost as much as the taxidermist's bill would have.

Say, you aren't one of those green hunters that put an extra handful of Old Spice on 'cause you heard the Deer were "in the mood" this time of year are you? 'Cause if you were, and you did, that might explain why you didn't see anything.

I'm starting to work with some advertisers in the hunting industry and was wondering if anyone here was into reloading? I've found some magazines, sites and forums that talk to the reloading audience but was wondering if anyone here had a favorite or two?
