Most of mine sit around and collect dust, but I know guys who shoot enough ammo a month to make a car payment. There could easily be a spot in the market for another maker but the investment needed might be a lot more than most realize.

Why did you look at me when you said that? LMAO

Investment and insurance would be massive. I can't imagine what kind of equipment you would need to pump out the ammo.

If you're near Sedalia some time you should go tour the Sierra bullet plant. Pretty sure you can still just walk in and take the tour for free.

They have an outlet there to buy bullets for loading as well.:thumb:

Wow, 168gr Sierra Match King HPBT is all that I feed through my AR-10 NM.

I will check it out if I am around there!

So, not a huge purchase of guns and ammo. Still, it's kind of strange that all these non-military/law enforcement federal agencies are stocking up on guns and ammo. I think the cumulative effect of all these federal agencies buying all these small arms and ammo is somewhat troubling. It may be a back door way to drive up the price of guns and ammo and delay the general population from having access to this stuff. Hard to know for sure. We'd need to see what these type of purchases were like 10, 15, 20, 25 years ago to see if this is way off or just pretty typical.

Most people don't seem to understand that many federal agencies have internal law enforcement arms. The NOAA purchase they're complaining about supplies their agents with just over 700 rounds. Really? Bitching about 700 rounds per officer?

That site is a ****ing joke.

unlurking 02-08-2014 02:38 PM

Oh, and for that tripe being spouted about the Dept. of Education purchasing weapons / ammo? It's for the ****ing IG.

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/ans...27-shotgu.html

Again, that site is a bunch of pure bullshit, and anyone citing it should be forced to fist themselves on a street corner yelling "I'm a moron who just parrots shit on the Internet."

This .22 shortage is really getting old fast. I don't even want to go shoot because I have no idea when I'll be able to replace what I use. I only have 800 or so rounds and I overpaid like crazy for 300 of it.

Keep checking here: http://www.gunbot.net/ammo/rimfire/22lr/

Sooner or later you'll find a deal. I got in on a 525 box two days ago at $24.99 with free shipping. I agree though, it is a real pain in the ass trying to find .22 ammo for a decent price.

Up here in Seattle things are starting to loosen up a bit. My local range has stock on 22, 45 and 9mm, all of which was impossible to come by this time last year.

I am surprised they didn't mention that Mosin should be kicked in the nuts for his bolt design.
