Sat in a stand in the heat two weeks ago. Passed on a few does and only saw one small buck. Just hung my "home" stand at my place and will get up in it this weekend when it is a bit cooler. I think i will bag the first doe that comes ambling along to put some meat in the freezer. Then I can be real selective. I'm pumped up, just got a new bow this year after shooting the same Hoyt for 20 years. Damn are the new bowes light and fast!

I despise you midwesterners with your large deer and ability to hunt on Sundays.

PA has that same law as well. You get 2 days off a week and they take one away from you for hunting.

Dumb

Bird hunters should appreciate these. Almost 300 for 2 days of hard work. Took a month off to rehab my shoulder.

I don't discriminate. I shoot dark geese too.

ROFL

That's about right. I have taken the breasts and had jerky made from it. That's not bad.

Just curious, what do you do with 300 dead birds?

Feed the coyotes. Save the habitat.

I'll be in Missouri for the opening week-end of gun season. My new jobs schedule won't allow me to do my normal all season hunt. I'm flying out Friday and will be at our farm Friday night for gin and stories. I'll hunt Saturday all day (and I do mean all day) and Sunday morning. Then Sunday night I drive to KC to catch a flight back to LA. I'm bummed I can't hunt more, but I'll take what I can get. I can't wait till I retire.

Reminds me of the trout joke:

Take whole trout. Cover in three pats of butter, two slices of lemon, crushed black paper, and crushed garlic. Wrap in foil. Place in fire for 10 minutes. Remove from fire. Throw trout away. Eat foil.

So, do you like mail the meat to yourself?

My best friend in Idaho sent me this story and pics:
Deer and elk season opened here on Friday. I found this guy Friday afternoon bedded down with 3 small bucks but was never able to get closer than 400 yards. I found him again Saturday morning in a perfect spot and was able to take him. The bad part is he slid 200 yards further down the hill when I shot him. Only way out is up, but I had a couple of friends willing to work for a fried turkey dinner and some beer.

I used to fly it back in a cooler. Just checked it in as additional baggage. Now, I donate it to share the harvest.
