Only reason I don't think he goes there is he stated he wanted a football and winning atmosphere. Jets are no where near being competitive. |

Jets have Marcus Maye though who they like

Am I weird? For some reason, two of our players reaching out to him after his culture over money coment , brought tears to my eyes. I mean literally. |
If there really are legs to this, Chiefs would be wise to pursue it a tad more aggressively.
The best remaining corner fit on the market just re-upped with the Jets - Mo Claiborne. That leaves a lot of zone guys or marginal starters at best. The DL starter market is thinning out, and Suh/Richardson will break bank along with having character questions linger. Mathieu’s versatility fits great with how Sutton schemes his safeties. If money is tight, axe Sorenson who Mathieu essentially replaces in some capacities and also insure the position through the draft which has solid secondary talent throughout the first three rounds. |
I know the injury history here, but Berry/Honey Badger would be an absolute BLAST to watch on Sundays.

The way Veach talked about attacking FA in areas that are weak in the draft and then his specific comments on TM, I just doubt he’s gonna drop big coin on a FA safety when the draft is strong at the position.
I’d be happy with the move because he takes the ball away and makes big plays...but I can see why Veach would pass. |

Veach is going young & if he checks out medically ok...I could see it happening. Veach isn't a dumbass. |

Both good run stoppers too. |

Honey Badger has always been fun to watch
He plays with a ton of heart He has more fight in him than some entire teams do If it is supposed to be it will |
He has the same age and injury history as Sammy Watkins.
|
This is KC's "time to spend" period...They will be able to get out of Houston's bloated deal before Mahomes needs to get paid.
They have a lot cap next year and a lot of picks....load up now while the new labor is cheap. You only stumble on an inexpensive franchise QB once every 20 years...or in KC's case...once every 50 years. Chiefs are in a "sweet spot"... |

Surprised nobody posted this.

The guy on Twitter who scooped the Watkins deal is saying the Seahawks are closing in on Tyrann Mathieu.

I'm not a fan of Arrowhead Addict - but this was a decent thought.

He refused to take a pay cut, so AZ cut him. Obviously he's banking on some other team coughing up more than AZ's reduced number. Of course, 'it's not about the money'... Whenever I hear a player say "it's not about the money" - it's almost always about the money. He has a right to earn as much as he can - but don't say it's not about the $$$ when you're gambling that you can make more somewhere else - which, he just might. He's very versatile, and would probably fit nicely in our S/LB hybrid role...good vs the run. I believe in AZ he was playing both at CB (slot) and S - which is probably why his numbers have tapered off a bit. As just S and S/LB, he would be a big upgrade. But, given the list of teams interested, I think he'll be way too expensive . |
I don’t see KC signing him. We’ll see

Edit. We have $12.7 in cap space. Minus the 500k or so for the draft and we've still got 12.2MM. That's plenty to get him locked up if you choose to do so. And the next few years look great as far as cap space is concerned.
https://i.imgur.com/2LMrgey.png This includes all of the new deals that have been signed as well, FYI. Everyone tripping out that our cupboards are bare in cap space need to pump the brakes a touch. |

You can cut Sorensen post-1 and get like $4 mil. You can restructure guys. Bailey can be cut for $6 mil. Just option are there to make it happen. I don’t see it. Although Terez isn’t breaking news if it’s not 100% fact. He won’t just post rumors to post them.

Maybe a two year restructure for Bailey. |

FTR, the Chiefs gave DAT a $90k signing bonus as well. It all adds up... |

<script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
so if he has say '6' clubs interested - what's the lead-time (historically) for said player to sign - say he vetts all 6 prior to a decision - what? maybe 8 or 9 days??? So it'll be about a week and half before we know? I'm just reaching for ANYthing.... And I'm like an impatient kid who's parent is rationing the cotton candy at the fair.

Last year alone, Mahomes, Kpass and Hunt were more than $1.5 million in base salaries, not including their signing bonuses. |

And assuming they keep all eight of their draft picks — once the Smith and Peters trades are completed on March 14 — that should eat up a few million more. |

Is this actually close to happening?

Here's where our numbers would stand IF:
• Sherman's deal is the reported 1 year, $2 million dollar • Jenkins' deal is minor. This could be a bigger number, but as you'll see it wouldn't matter. • We give Tyrann the deal he's reportedly looking for, which is somewhere north of $9 million a year. I saw some numbers saying he was looking for 11-plus, but starting it at 9 million per, 4 years, with a $12M signing bonus. That number could also be higher, but I'm generalizing. You could also backload that contract based on our cap space over the next several years. • We cut Sorenson after June 1 As you can see, that would still leave us with $3.2M in space for the draft, which again, if I'm understanding correctly could come in at around $500k based on bottom salaries dropping off and the positions of our draft picks based on their salaries. There are also a ton of restructuring options available. https://i.imgur.com/zM0AUeG.png |
And Mathieu’s cap number would certainly be lower than $12M this year anyways. It’s doable. Not likely, but doable.

Then draft pass rushers & CB’s in the draft. |

Maybe HB wants to play next to Berry? I could see that being very motivating in deciding to be a Chief.
Passionate fan base, strong culture, potentially great offense. Solid defense in the making. I can see it. |
