Hated Crue's 'Shout at the Devil' a little less than I did back in the day. Crue was for the burnouts out at the smoker's tree in HS.
|
Yeah, at the risk of getting too nitpicky, I hated Bon Jovi's Runaway in ep 7 as well. A little too obvious and cutesy for me.

Holy shit!! Now there is a deep cut. . .

Just finished season 2. Overall, I really enjoyed it . The Duffer brothers really brought it strong once again.
My only complaint would be The Lost Sister episode. Thought those anarchist dbags were annoying. I really was wanting Steve to take his nail bat to Max's older brother's face. Oh well, he'll get his thats for sure. |

Soooo, what is proper etiquette for discussing a show that is released all at once? At what point can we not spoiler?
I avoided coming in here until I was done just in case. |

I thought Season 2 was stronger. The new characters really added to the show.

Episode 7 should have been season 3, with a more believable plot line and cast of characters.

Every episode seemed to have a different writer...they should never use whoever that was again. |
Just finished the season. Like most everyone else, I think season 2 was better than the first. Minus episode 7 of course. Although Mike was getting really freaking annoying. Ended up rooting for him to get eaten by demi-dogs by the end.

Other than episode 7, which was not only pointless but also awful, I didn't like

Interesting, I thought Runaway was the perfect song, partly because it was so obvious of an 80s song to play with that scene.

I think everyone is being a bit hard on episode 7. It is clearly a setup for a future season. It also answers the question if there are others out there with abilities. I'm sure we'll see more than just the two of them together again.

I thought they'd bring 8 back to warp Will's mind so he didn't know where he was. |

I probably won't watch if they become regulars. It's that bad IMO. |

And I really don't think we needed to answer the question of whether there were others. Eleven is no One for a reason. The mother also displayed abilities. It's obvious that El is not a one-off. We had no need to know about anyone outside of Hawkins this season. |

The producers supposedly listen to the fans, so I hope they avoid it.

Not every episode is going to be a masterpiece, but if you think of Episode 7 as "Luke goes to Dagobah" it's necessary to explain how her powers grew to the point where they were as great as they needed to be to cap the season off.
As far as new characters go: Owens: Reiser was perfect. Anyone who saw Aliens was expecting him to be a slimy **** and he was the exact inverse in many ways. Great writing Max: Nice to have a tertiary love interest for the other boys, I guess, and provide perspective of the outside, but otherwise, she was kind of a 'meh' addition Billy: Worthless, one-note character. Yes, they added a scintilla of depth in episode 8; altogether, he served very little purpose. Bob: Suffered the fate of the great guy boyfriend who the female lead doesn't love quite as much. Astin played the hell out of him, though. ------------------- That stuff aside, I only have one thing to say: Steve, you da real MVP. |

Just Started watching this, 2 episodes in. Yeah, i should have watched it earlier.

The Max storyline was interesting as a contrast to season 1. In the first season it was Lucas who didn't want El around and thought she was a traitor thus causing friction with Mike. In the second season Mike re-pays the favor by being bitchy to Max. |

We just finished season 2 up last night. Mike annoyed me throughout the season with him not letting Max "in the group". Then, when Eleven comes back and Mike flips out on Hopper, I told my wife that he should have just punched the kid to end that shit. From that point on, I was hoping he'd get eaten. |
I thought having Sean Astin play a role was a nice touch due to his younger role in The Goonies.
|
So, uh, did anyone else catch the Shauna Grant poster in Billy's bedroom?
|
I'll admit I was a fan of 9's progression.
The link to her and her "sister" seemed like a big moment. Then, it wasn't. It was a blip. I hated the whole way that played out. When she comes back it demotes her to a Mary Sue... |
Stranger Things (Netflix)...
I️ thought it was awesome outside of that shitty episode with the weirdos.
I️ really ****ing hated Steve in the beginning for no apparent reason. I️ think it was his hair. He really came through in the end again. I️ have to say he’s a good dude.. and he always has been.

Great season. Great.
*agree with whoever said that ep.7 was lame UNLESS they are setting up a future story *the kid with the orange lips hooking up with the girl with the orange hair was awkward *Paul Reiser and David Harbour nailed it all season I hope S3 continues this high level. |
Yea 13.
its a coming of age thing. I mean.. i was doing way more than that at 13.. |
The show is ok. It's something to watch. But the bald kid is just atrocious. I get it, acting is hard, especially for a child, but I just can't stand her scenes.

she got nominated for an emmy, i thought she was the best out of all the kids. The dude with the ****ed up teeth was probably a close 2nd.

Probably because Hollywood pedophiles like the boy/girl thing she has going. Probably the same deal for the comic-con pedophile types. Sick ****s. Awful character. Haven't hated a performer this much since Eisenberg.
|
yeah, even all the review sites ect ect, all into the pedo rings. Every single one connected, doesnt matter if its a small time reviewer or a big tiime. All connected ! /s

On episode 7 now. Overall the season has been good, not great. This episode though makes me want to just quit the show. It's ****ing terrible. I'm keep almost falling asleep. Only thing keeping me up is the insane amount of cringe in the episode.

I'm pretty certain that the Dig Dug arcade game only allowed for 3 digit high score names. Not 6 (MADMAX). 6 digit high score entry was available in Dig Dug 2 arcade instead.
Pretty certain. |

Just finished it.
No big mysteries to unravel and the uniqueness has worn off. The show’s trajectory is angled down, but didn’t feel ripped off. Will watch season 3... |

Just finished it. I liked the last 2 episodes and overall the season was good too. I don't think they need to do or should do a 3rd season though.
BTW...what the hell was the point of the over the top bully character? Max's brother. He literally had nothing to do with the story other than being an over the top douche in every scene he was in. Posted via Mobile Device |

If you go back and watch the scene where his dad slaps him around, he acts totally different. He was normal AF when face to face with his father. I think he's a classic case of an abused child lashing out at his peers in an effort to cope. |

Max's brother was one of the most authentic characters on the show for me. I grew up across the street from that guy. Even if his character goes nowhere, his addition further legitimized the period, imo.

It’s not an excuse, it’s an explanation. People deal with trauma differently. To be realistic, he wasn’t going to run the boys over. Also, the show is set in the 80s. They weren’t as cognizant of the effects of head trauma quite like we do today. Not to mention, from Billy’s point of view that situation was sketch as all hell. He shows up to a strangers house where he finds a 17 year old dude holed up with his little sister and then he lies about it. That’s grounds for an ass whooping, IMO. Anyway, it’s not hard to understand and perhaps empathize with a teenager who lashes out in anger after being physically and verbally abused, forced to move from California to ****ing Indiana, and play big brother/babysitter to a step-sibling. |

Season 2 was just fan service that retreaded on most of the same story beats as Season 1, with an added bonus of the horrendous Episode 7 where they try to hint at a spinoff series that no one wants. I had actually hoped that they were going to do something like True Detective where it's a completely different cast/location and maybe the original characters only cameo at some point, but it looks like they went with following the same formula with the same characters: "We need to save Will... AGAIN", "we need to close what's under the facility.. AGAIN", "mom needs to chart out what Will is trying to say and look like a crazy person.. AGAIN", "there's going to be a new bully to take on Steve's original role and pick on the kids.. AGAIN", "Jonathan & Nancy need to go off and do their own stupid investigation that is ultimately kind of worthless.. AGAIN", "Eleven needs to show up at the end and save everyone's ass deus ex machina style.. AGAIN". |

Shut the **** up, it's a TV show that people like to watch. |
