Hope the 4th season is the last because there's really not a lot left they can do with these characters.

13*4=52.

Well I was enjoying it....

You make good points all around. Even still I hadn't watched since season 2 dropped, so I had forgotten some of the nuance that you obviously didn't.

I still think it's a good show. Not as good as it could or should be but still worth the watch.

Spoiler!

BigRedChief 03-06-2015 08:47 AM

Claire walking out makes no sense. They have spent their whole lives calculating to get to this point in power and you just walk away? Without a real good reason. You just don't feel it anymore? This is what happens when you let the actors direct and control the show.

RockChalk 03-06-2015 08:57 AM

Loved seasons 1 & 2, but this one just seemed like they rushed it through production. I still like the characters, but the story lines in season 3 were just all over the place. People love ruthless Frank and Claire, not the dramatic couples therapy crap we were given, especially the last few episodes. Terrible ending, though I did like Stamper finally putting Rachel in the ground.

I suppose the one good thing is that they can really take it in any direction they want for Season 4. Hopefully they'll take their time and get back to what worked so well in the first 2 season.

kysirsoze 03-06-2015 12:47 PM

Either Frank figures out a way to keep Claire from leaving, or season 4 is just going to be the total dismantling of his legacy. He'll probably be in jail by the end.

He strikes me as the type who would eat a bullet before going to jail.

I predict Frank does something illegal, surprise. But this time actually gets caught and impeached. Show over.

kysirsoze 03-07-2015 02:57 PM

My prediction is that it comes full circle and somehow it gets proven that he killed Zoe and possibly Peter. I think he goes to jail for murder, among other things.

I like the take on the sex. I originally thought, after he didn't rough **** her, that it was about his homosexuality. Rather, it was what he wouldn't do for her that she did for him.

Yeah, I didn't really get that. I found myself wondering if I missed an episode where he really screwed her over or something. He gave her most of what she wanted, and she's obviously smart enough to realize political realities when something may have to happen that she doesn't like. For her to just leave is not consistent with her character at all.

I did like the Putin-esque Russian president.
And the Stamper story was decent when we weren't sure who side he was on.

Putin made him dump her as the UN ambassador. That's supposed to be the big slight.

"Putin" sure was a dick. His line that Frank should bring Claire along because there were lots of artists around was pretty funny.

ChiTown 03-07-2015 08:10 PM

This was my least favorite season yet. The first two were incredible, so my expectations were crazy high for season 3. It was still enjoyable, but a bit of a let down overall.

From that link, one of the questions is answered, "If there is a subsequent season..."

If? This thing isn't already set for another season?

Yeah, they have to close this thing out. You can't leave it open ended on so many levels. Season 4 has the potential to be epic, if they take the time to manage the characters properly.

My god...Could there possibly be anymore liberal gun grabbing propaganda bullshit in this season??? ridiculous. TONS of subliminal messaging in this season so far. Hell they even portray what seems to be their version of a young donald trump as the opposing candidate, or at least there are some parallels there. They even slip the name Trump a couple times into the season.

I was hoping this series wouldn't come to this....but hollywood/cia/white house couldn't resist turning this series into a govt propaganda machine. I guess this series is a carbon copy of the Clinton administration and Hillary is campaigning in an election year for potus.

I like the series..like Spacey's acting a lot always have. Robin Wright is a milf and Neve Campbell looks milfy too. Never thought she was good looking but she looks great in this series considering I haven't seen her in anything since Scream in the 90's. There's a Kate Mara cameo (dream flashback sequence) and she is really ****ing sexy. GREAT body. Overall great season...but man...the gun grabbing bullshit. Come...the ****....on. I mean there are A LOT of parallels in this series and they did that on purpose.

Parallels in House of Cards to real events in American politics over the last 40 years? Are you shitting me? Mind blown. Gonna need to take a break to process this. Whoa.

Season four was a complete redemption of season three. Badass ending.

I hope we are going to get two points of view next season.

Bewbies 03-08-2016 09:04 PM

Is there better television available anywhere today than this? If so, what is it? I loved season 4..!

That seems to be the consensus opinion. Season 4 may be the best season since the first season.

KCUnited 03-11-2016 09:30 PM

I'm only 3 episodes in but this thing is going Homeland season 2 on me. The writing seems really bad to this point. I'll keep trucking with it though.

KCUnited 03-20-2016 10:09 AM

Finished up season 4 and have likely lost all interest in any remaining seasons. I thought the writing was laughably bad. It also appeared to me that a few scenes were filmed at separate times. Like a couple of conversations with Frank and Claire where they didn't appear to be on set at the same time when the scene was filmed. This season was like Madam Secretary meets Knots Landing to me.

OnTheWarpath15 05-24-2017 06:09 PM

Sorry if there's another thread and I missed it - but I have a feeling Season Five is going to be the best yet. The trailer is awesome, and the cast has made claims that it's the best work they've done.

If you've watched the trailer...

Interesting that Frank loses his home state of South Carolina...also that the EC map in the trailer shows that Conway needs to win BOTH Ohio and Pennsylvania to win the Presidency.

Not that THAT was ever happening...

lewdog 05-24-2017 06:10 PM

I made it halfway through season 3 before giving up. The writing and story lines got way too absurd for me. I did love Spacey's acting though. Not enough to continue, however.

I have to admit that they are going a bit overboard. However, I can't help but watch. Looks like season 5 will be available at 02:00 central tonight.

The show has really gone in a shit direction, IMO. It's like they're just trying to cater to the feminists and SJW's now since Frank was such a hardass when it came to women.

I felt like season five took forever to get where it was going and stopped in too many uninteresting places along the way.

I got bored with it the first few episodes of Season 1.

Anyong Bluth 06-06-2017 09:00 PM

Season 3 was in the pooper.
Season 4 seemed to rescue it from the toilet.
Season 5 seems to be hollering for someone to shut off the water main and asking for a plunger asap.

It might have been, I have essentially purged 3 from my memory. I just know I thought 4 really righted the ship. 5 felt like the whole season was a long setup and left off rather ho-hum.

While I enjoyed some of the twists of the season it still just felt flat at the end.

I really wish Netflix would have had the courage to end it with Doug assassinating Frank at the end of Season 4 and Claire taking over. She even could have stared at the camera and pounded the desk to end it.

Seasons 5 and 6 were travesties

Is this the last season of HoC?

I mean they pretty much killed off everyone that mattered on that show.

Robin Wright as POTUS doesn't make the show interesting....unless she gets naked.

ummmm - try again:

“I know that most of you find this difficult to accept. That’s only because you’ve been manipulated, poisoned into believing the news media’s fake story that I am evil, that I am a criminal. Quite the opposite is true. Because I challenge the system, because I’ve told the truth and tried to make this city a better place, the people in power decided to tear me down. To tear me down with false allegations. They sent someone to frame me. Daredevil. The killer who’s now showing his true colors, who has tried to murder people in newspaper offices and churches, attacking our sacred institutions. Believe me. Daredevil is our true public enemy.”
