Zimmer was pulled from the game yesterday with shoulder soreness. :)
RE: Bonifacio- No corresponding move announced by the Royals yet. Boner was slashing .305/.385/.587 in AAA-Omaha. I'm pumped to see what he can do. |

Zimmer....sigh.
Hes never gonna make the big league club |
Hoz felt he needed to take over Butlers job of rally killing GIDPs

Like the promotion of Bonifacio, hoping they give him most of the run in RF now.
He's very similar to Cuthbert in pedigree (top 100 list at times), and it's really encouraging he cut his K numbers so drastically so far this season. Offense stinks. For many reasons. I like shuffling it up. They have to send Mondesi back down at this point. His struggles with the bat are starting to affect him. Rebuild his confidence, let him develop further, and ride with other options at the position. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Makes sense. They wanted an eighth reliever, so they didn't want to send Alexander back down. Orlando was CF insurance for Cain, but I suppose in a pinch they can shift Gordo over there and put Moss or Whit in LF.

Praise da lawd

Good.

Hopefully GMDM has learned his lesson here. Watching Mondesi at the plate was flat out painful.

But guess what??? Hoz is 5th in MLB the last calendar year in GIDP! Tied with Yadi Molina and Victor Martinez with 22. (So 3.6% of his AB end this way). I pulled up Fattycakes Butler 2014 Royals: 21 in 549 AB (3.8%) |
I feel kinda sorry for Hos. Some team is going to massively overpay for him and he's probably going to become a pariah for it.

Gotta sting when he gets a QO this winter. But I really don't care, like a ex GF who got really fat, he's someone else's problem after October 1. Maybe sooner.

Jorge Bonafacio is going to hit 4 home runs today and we will lose 5 to 4.
|
Excited to see Bonafacio get some at-bats. He's been in the minors long enough to see if he can have some productivity at the big league level, if even for a short stint.
|
Hoz just grounded out on a 3-2 fastball
He's costing himself millions. Tens of millions. |
What the hell is goin on with the offense?

He'll still make more money in one year than i'll make the rest of my life, but **** him. |

Meh, they'll come around, they always have...well except last year...but they had a bunch of injuries... please extend Moose and Hosmer.....they deserve each other. They even like each other. Keep Cain for 2, winner.
|
I'd agree that there's no way they look this bad the entire season. Will it be enough? And will the starting pitching still be this good when the offense comes around? Hard telling.
But yeah even if they have terrible years, Hosmer and Gordon aren't finishing with a .500 OPS. |
Soler went 2-3 3 run HR in 1st rehab start in AAA

After the last two games, it's nice to be able to switch on some World Series memories, though. |
The offense will come around to their averages, which means a really hot streak will happen.

Stellar, you two.

Granderson, Abreu and Fowler are all there too. That's pretty incredible, and makes me wonder if Cards fans are starting to sweat that signing. |
Last season it seemed we were always playing at .500 or trying to get back to .500. We really could use a nice winning streak before we far much further back so that we aren't constantly playing catch up in the standings.
|
I'm good with one more run, but we do not need to be floating around .500 at the deadline. We need to be up and have a high likelihood of a playoff spot or we need to sell. I still want to resign moose and cain, but we have got to get something for these guys if we aren't going to.

Other than playoffs, have Moose and Hosmer ever lived up to their alleged 'star' status?
|
Quote:
Watched the game last night- Gordo swinging wild at anything and Hos was swinging at chest-high fastballs. Salvy swung at a first pitch in the dirt for a tapper back to the pitcher. It was brutal. This might be the worst hitting team in recent Royals history. No patience at all at the plate. |

I wouldn't call Moose a "star" yet, but he's been very good since 2015 (when he turned 26). Keep in mind that he was called up at a pretty young age (22 when he was called up). Since the start of 2015, he's hitting .278/.340/.483 (.823 OPS). If he can stay healthy, he's got plenty of time left to turn in a very good career. |
No official game thread tonight??

KC is trying real hard to not get a hit tonight. No hit through four.
What pisses me off is the offense has given Kennedy one run in his three and a third starts. |
criminal how these pitching jobs are being wasted
unreal last 7 ganes--10 runs |
Id love to give that pathetic POS Hosmer a bat, call him a pussy to his face, and ask him to hit me. And watch him miss.
|
Atleast all those free agents will be cheap to resign
|
There's no excuse for the lack of offensive production.
I don't think I've ever seen an entire team (who's capable/competitive/proven) all collectively slump together at the same time, as I have with this team so far. Team BA of .209, only Moose and Cain show up at the plate. That's pathetic. Starting rotation has a combined ERA of 3.17, 2nd best in MLB behind ChiSox. Bats desperately need to warm up before our rotation comes back down to earth. I'm not sure if Kennedy or Vargas will continue their recent dominance on the mound. Eventually I'm sure they'll both come back down to earth, but maybe they're both due for a great year. Because of both our SP and lineup suck, it's going to be an ugly season and KC will sell late into the year and the window will be long shut. The farm system is a real letdown. Some of their top picks won't sniff the major league club (Starling, Zimmer). |
I've been against resigning Hosmer since the start. If some team wants to pay him 100mil+, good on them because that money will be completely wasted.
|
I don't want Hosmer.
Sign Moose & Cain to reasonable contracts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The Royals can change their plate approach, yadda yadda, but honestly, they just have a bunch of bad hitters in their lineup. Yes, they're bad hitters who are going through slumps, but they're still mediocre hitters. This kind of thing will happen from time to time with a set of guys like this.

Giving Cain more years on this team means you've got two outfielders, him and Gordon, aging into their mid 30's together. No thanks on that. You already have Gordon in a Royals uniform until he's near 37 years old.
I don't think you sign Cain, who relies more heavily on speed to his game, and his injury history as an aging centerfielder. I'm all for resigning Moose. |
